I still can't believe this is real!
Yesterday at 11am our new little son was placed in our arms. He's just so perfect! Our older son, who's almost 4, is going through a bit of the jealousy but actually seems to have already fallen in love with his little brother and is soooo careful with him. And he's just such a good little baby!
I know our wait wasn't long by some standards, but in the past 13 months we: started a homestudy, almost ran totally out of money trying to get a house sold, had dozens and dozens of showings to no avail, finally sold our house and went active with a referral service, DH got laid off, DH got rehired, active again, two failed showings and awful communication with the service, switched to a local agency with longer waits, have taken classes and read books and paid fee after fee, watched family after family get chosen over us, then finally, right when we hit "one year since we first applied for homestudy" we get a call that a woman due in two weeks chose us, US, to raise her child! That was almost a month ago. She gave birth a day before her due date then we had to wait out NC's 7 day revocation period, with baby in respite care and no real communication (no pictures, no health reports, nada). Finally yesterday morning we went in and signed tons of paperwork, handed over another check, and then... in walked his respite care provider with our new son in her arms. I don't think love at first sight can describe such a thing! I swear when we were walking out of the office with him all I could think is "they're just letting us leave??? But he's just too perfect!" Haha, I thought the same with Paxton so at least I knew the feeling was normal (for me anyway). And now here I sit, over a day later with little Ambrose Locke asleep in my sling, curled into me snug as a bug. I have to keep looking at him to make sure it's all still real! This journey is just so incredible ![]()

So sweet! There is nothing like holding your baby for the first time and every time thereafter. I just rocked my little one to bed. I love to see their sweet faces when they just fall asleep. Congratulations to you and your family. Give your little guy lots of hugs and kisses for us.
