I just wanted to thank you all so much for your thoughts/support for my Dad.

He died last Friday. I was there and it was very peaceful. I loved him so much that I am beyond grief. But honestly we had the most amazing wake and funeral....there were so many people who had so many amazing stories about my dad and what a good person he was. I will cherish those forever.

My DD and her "papa" were really close. I thought I would have to deal with her grief as well. Her response to the news: "Yes! Now I get Papa's chair!" (They always fought over who got to sit in the "special chair!"). I couldn't stop laughing...she really has gotten me through the last week.

Anyway, thank you all again!

Oh Karen I'm sorry to that but I am glad that he's finally at peace. You know I just lost my grandma in July and it still hurts like it was yesterday. I really do hope that you can feel better as time goes on. ((((HUGS))))

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry to hear this. I lost my dad two years ago, and I know how hard it is. I hope you and your family spend lots more time telling stories and remembering what a wonderful man he was. The fact that he got to be part of your daughter's life and memories is an amazing gift. Sorry to hear about your loss. My Dad died six months ago on the 6th. It's an odd thing to lose a parent. I still imagine him out walking around out there in the world, a phone call away. Take care of yourself, and don't let anyone tell you when grieving "should" be over.

Thank you, Steph and JCM. JCM, I am so sorry for you as well! That's the weird thing...I'm like, now what? You know it's that weird time when the wake and funeral are over but it's just so sad! (I was the baby of the family too and I just have always relied on my parents...it's hard when the roles reverse!).

Take the "weird time" when you don't really know what to do with yourself and when you spend hours crying and the next hour laughing, and the next searching for something of his to hold to write down all those wonderful stories people shared with you at the wake.

Those stories and memories are what I've relied on all these years and for me anyway, it's comforting!
