Oprah about Billings family

Oprah today is about the florida couple murdered with their 9 adoptive special needs children in the house and how their adult child is taking over.
Heartbreaking.

i may have missed it, but it sounds like they are struggling a little financially (i would have thought the parents had life insurance or something, since they appeared to be well off). they do have a trust fund for all 9 kids set up--go to oprah.com These kids' will need life long support due to their special needs.

I gasped to hear that there was no insurance, the daughter seemed to say it was due to an invalid will? Are those 2 things connected? I'm running to check our information now, I can't imagine thinking things are set and then a glitch like that happens. Is that what happened or did I misunderstand?
I'm glad they have the trust and now have the exposure via Oprah. Just heartbreaking.

Didn't they adopt the kids from the state though? So there should be subsidies and that wouldn't end with the parent's deaths. Neither would the kids' medicaid insurance.

(I haven't followed this story at all, so that's why I'm asking)

An invalid will should have no bearing on a life insurance policy. It could be the insurance co. doesn't want to pay; it wouldn't be the first time.

crick, they did say the kids have SSI. The husband also mentioned that their electric bill last month was $1200!!!! OMG! hopefully it will cool down eventually in this hot-behind state. but still, that's alot of $. I hope their marriage is strong enough....what a huge burden at their age, from never a parent to needing to be an expert parent.

The insurance company may not want to pay the life insurance out because of the manner of death. That is so sad
