Beautiful Photo Essay

I think this is so amazing. I have never seen such beautiful photos of Albinos (is that the right word now?)

It really moved me on so many levels.

I am/used to be a teacher of the visually impaired and I had two students with albinism. They were BEAUTIFUL, delightful, intelligent children. I think it's great that someone is trying to help with the discrimination issues and educate parents and families about albinism. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for posting this link. The photos are beautiful and I loved reading the stories about each person! I knew someone when I was in college who was an albino, and he was a very talented musician with a great personality - everyone thought the world of him.

I have passed this on to many of my friends to look at. Thanks again for posting this!

Did anyone see 20/20 last week when they did a story on Albinos in Africa being hunted down and murdered for their arms and legs??? Apparantly the witch doctors say they are ghost and using their limbs help with some kind of power. It was soooo sad because they are killing babies and children!!! It was awful watching that show.

Absolutely goregous photo essay.

I realized that although I have seen people with with albinism, and was vaguely aware of their existance, I really knew nothing about them. So after looking at the beautiful photos, (I had NO idea that people from all over the world had albinism!) I googled. Sure enough, good old wikipedia gave me a good introduction.

Albinism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Supa, sadly they mention a very recent series of incidents of violence in Africa.

I knew a guy in high school who had it. He was smart and fun, and honestly I would never have guessed until someone told me (although his eyes were different). I'm guessing it's easier for caucasian families to have albinos children than for other races though.

went to school with two albinos brother and sister. I remember growing up that I used to think they were really white, but they were a couple of the nicest kids in my school that I met.
