OT: Dog ate entire can of powdered baby formula??

I woke up this morning to see an empty shredded can of baby formula in the livingroom floor and powder on my Greyhound's nose. I swear this dog is a goat! Has anyone had this experience before?

Can't say that I have, only because I don't have any pets. lol

Seriously, have you called the vet to see if there is any danger to your dog? I know that the formula is safe for babies, but sometimes things that are safe for humans are toxic to pets.

Yes, I did call and after they got done hysterically laughing at me, said that she should be fine. She may have some digestive issues, but otherwise should be OK. Ack! How in the world is powdered formula appealing? Yuck!!!

You know, if there were two things I'd put side by side in the contest for tasting the most digusting, it'd be formula and dog food...

Have you tasted it?

LOL I'd bet s/he didn't even realize what he'd gotten into. S/he was likely just nomnomnom'ing away thinking it was his/her own personal paradise.

Not sure about powdered forumala but I can attest the eating two sticks of butter will not kill a dig (although it will leave nasty stains everywhere it was dragged in the house)!

You girls crack me up!

Yes, I've unfortunately tasted formula. It's definitely not on the top of my fav foods list. She looked SO proud of herself. Her nose was covered in powder as she wagged her tail excitedly. I should have taken a photo - I swear she looked like she had a drug problem. lol

Butter, Jen?? Really??? Yuck!!!! I spent a good bit of time cleaning the caked in wet formula out of the carpet. I'm still curious as to how she knocked down the diaper bag, unzipped it, and got the can out......

not formula....but a spray bottle of dog repellant. lol. our dog kept eating our trees....down to the roots, and so we sprayed them down with dog repellant, and accidently left the bottle out. we went away for the night, and returned to find all the new trees eaten...completely, and the bottle half eaten and empty. dessert perhaps? i mean...come on...dog REPELLANT!

dogs are weird.

Well, that is funny Our dog ate a tube of butt paste once, and he was fine. I'm sure formula is no big deal. Just make sure you put the dirty diapers away

We not only have dog issues, we have a cat that eats everything! Yesterday he somehow managed to get a bag of ice cream mix out of our storage room. (it was stored inside the ice cream machine!) He eats my plants. He will eat just about any human food he can get, it just crazy!

Our Beagle got into three bottles of homemade wine when we were not home, and was fine the next day. (We never stored anything with an unsealed cork in that wine rack again.) She also ate an agave plant, and lived. (Very uncomfortably for a day.) S/He will most likely be fine. What breed of dog? Hounds will ate anything.

Your dog sounds just like mine. lol

Our dog is famous for chewing. We've tried everything to nip the habit, but he still does it. He loves chewing plastic, school bags, shoes...you name it. We try to move everything from his reach, but somehow, he manages to get at it.

Let's list the things my dogs (D1, D2, D3) have eaten, that I can recall right now...

D1. The rind from an entire watermelon, a bra (she didn't eat the underwire...what a smart girl!), a Frisbee, a super tough kong, the charger to her electric collar, an entire leash, three collars, numerous shoes, the head off a large stuffed animal, 1/2 her dog bed. She has also popped the tops off 3 bottles of beer and drank them. 20 Habenaro peppers.

D2. An entire large dog toy made of heavy duty rope, a pair of DH boxer shorts, a whole bunch of cilantro, 1/2 a dead bat, the leg off a stuffed frog, three sippy cup tops, and most of one of Ty's new LL Bean slippers the day after Christmas.

D3. A million binkies (the soothies), 2 million bottle nippes, a mouse pad (he can get up on the desk), any dirty diapers he can get his hands on, and his preferred treat...used tissues

Do I win anything?

Yes Aclee...you win a year's worth of cleaning supplies and air freshener. Congratulations!!!!

My dog will eat anything food related of course, used tissues are a fave here too, loves those bark pieces we put around the trees, apples that fall from our tree which are of course on the way to rotting, chewed off the arm of a futon once, paperback books used to be a favorite too, and the oddest thing I've ever seen him eat was a bag of cotton balls. Luckily he is NOT a poop eater, although sometimes he'll give the cat a little lick on the butt. I'm not sure if that's a "mmmmm" lick or just a little love lick though. (you know...animals will clean each other etc?)

The cleaning supplies will come in handy...The watermelon rind was the worst...we almost lost her that time...But what really takes the cake is when the neighbor knocks on the door and says, one of your dogs just pooped hot pink (my bra)...Although watching you dog poop out a pair of boxer shorts is not fun either...the elastic from the waist was still inside so he was running around with this huge long fabric/poop mess trailing out his butt. Fun stuff.

That's hysterical! Over the years my dogs have gotten into MANY things. The worst was eating an entire tube of Neosporin... Which, btw, is fine IF it doesn't contain the "pain relief" ingredient. Just thought I'd tell you incase that's your next problem
