OT - preschool price?
I contacted a good preschool in the town we want to move to, and their fees are insane!!! $500 a month for 2 mornings a week... just no way we can afford that and whatever the tuition will be when they go there 5 days a week! So, going to look around more...
How much do you pay for preschool? If it's so expensive, we'll end up with a townhouse for sure! |

DD is in 5-days a week Montessori school for half-days (8:15-11:45) and we pay close to $500/month...but it's 5 mornings a week, it's school (not really pre-k with how Montessori works--she's in with the K's), and it includes all of her snacks and activities and such.

I pay $95 for 3 full days. $500 is probably an average price for 5 days, but that seems really pricey for 2 days a week.

The Montessori school is $5200 a year here too for two mornings a week... Yikes.
I'll keep looking! |

Fran, look at the Y. It is really reasonable here. And DD loves it (and gets swimming lessons for free to boot!).

My niece (age 4) goes 3 days a week for 3 hours a day and it costs $100 a month. Of course, being a little older probably helps too.

That does seem pricy!
Have you thought about co-op preschools? You would be required to work in the classroom - I think one day per week is typical. But the tuition is usually much cheeper. The one I am looking at for David is $250 for three days per week. It $350 for 5 days. And things are usually pretty expensive around here. |

Yes I'd actually love that, just not too sure where to find one. |

Our son is in Kindergarten now...5 full days. It is around 4K for the year...10 month payment plan. When he was in pre-K, it was 3K over 10mos for 3 full days. When he was in nursery, it was $1500 over 10 months for 2 mornings a week.

My 2 yr old goes to a Parents Day Out at a local church, from 9-2 Tues and Thurs, for $125 a month. I send her lunch, but they provide snacks and everything else.
For co-op schools, look for homeschooling groups in the area and on Yahoo Groups.

Fran, look at the churches too...I almost sent DD to a co-op one at the Methodist church (they are not "religious" as far as I understand it, just sort of organize these preschools). It was going to be pretty cheap (I forget how much).

That does seem really high. My ds is in the best preschool in our area. All day 5 days a week and it is $95 a week. This includes snacks and lunch! So we are figuring about 4k for the year. He will not be going during the summer months, so that saves a little bit.

Looking at churches is a good idea. Maybe just google? Schools these days all have websites. When I google cooperative preschool in my city, I get links to both of the schools I'm looking at.
It's funny you posted this today. I was calling yesterday to make appointments to visit schools for next year. Isn't it amazing that our kids have gotten to this point so fast? |

DS is 4 and is in Catholic School Pre-K and I pay $331.00 a month. He is in five days a week from 8:00 AM- 2:45 PM. Includes snacks but not lunch.
