Talking First time on the boat

J went for her first boat ride yesterday!

She loved it. She could barely keep her eyes off of the water that splashed on the side of the boat as we motored slowly in the protected waters of harbor.

The ride was about 20 minutes, due to a fast approaching rain shower.

She also helped dad steer the boat- she liked the horn best of all...

I hate to be the wet blanket, but...

Why isn't she wearing a life jacket? My son was around boats (we have a sailboat) from the time we adopted him at 10 months. He was never on a dock or a boat without a life jacket, even for a minute. In fact, when he was a toddler, we used to tie him to the pedestal on the boat as well, since it takes two people to handle the boat (we had a D ring on the back of his jacket and that was what we tied on). He was always free to move about the cockpit, but no way could he fall overboard when both parents were busy handling the boat.

We also netted all our lifelines so that he couldn't fall overboard once he was a bit older and no longer tethered to the pedestal.

Hope your little one enjoys the boating, but please, put a life jacket on her!

Thanks guys!

She had a blast, she was all grins, squeels and giggles!

The building behind dh is port, his parents heard her at the dock as she was skreeching and giggles when dh honked the horn as we would pass by nanna and poppa's place...

Yes, she had a life jacket on the entire time except during the photos as it covered half her face. I can assure you she never left our arms! Thank you for pointing that out (for those not familiar with the rules!) as safety is always our top concern with any child on the boat...

Oh, good. Those infant life jackets are a pain sometimes. They tend to ride up and get in their faces a lot! Gets better when they can stand up by themselves.

Hope she continues to enjoy the water as she grows up. My son is now 18 and has always been very "at home" in and on the water. Never been sea sick in his life either!

Such a Doll Baby and a Beaming Momma and Daddy!! Enjoy her!!! I recognize that look, my Momma has that same look and still does whenever her children are present.

Aww

She is so cute! I personally want a picture of her in the life jacket though. I love how it takes their cheeks and squishes them all up into their eyebrows just about
