x-posted - Background/Clearance

We have our homestudy Thursday so I am just wanting to get some pre-homestudy information.

We have to have the FBI, State and Child Maltreatment clearances. Does anyone know how long these take to get back?

Thanks!

2-3 weeks was the norm for us. Sometimes less.

Fingerprints were another matter... but not all states require them.

All of that (including fingerprints) were only a couple of weeks. Of course, I don't have "good prints", according to our local police dept., so mine got sent back. Apparently they aren't very deep, which would be good if I was a criminal (again, according to our local police officer that did them), but bad when sending them off to the FBI for adoption. Luckily they went through this second time or I would have had to pay the $45 again!

Do you know if you need prints? I know some states do and some don't.

Fingerprints took a day or two with the electronic submission. I sent my own child abuse registry and got it back in a week.
I may depend on your state.

My foster son's step dad has been waiting for fingerprint results since May. He used the traditional ink and card method. The electronic ones are much faster (about 2 to 3 weeks).
You might have to call around. Different police stations in my county offered different methods.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

If you're having trouble getting an acceptable set of fingerprints using the traditional ink & card method, be sure to ask if there's some way to do the electronic fingerprinting that previous posters have mentioned. I went through three sets of rejected fingerprints and so they finally ended up doing a "name check" (whatever that means) which took a long time to get back. This severely delayed our home study completion process.
