Waiting to be matched....2009 Edition :)

Hey everyone.....

I have noticed that a lot of people are currently waiting or just started the process again. Thought it would be a good time to start a new thread for all of us "waiters"

Please share a little bit about yourself (if you would like) if this is your first adoption, second adoption, and so forth...how you are feeling right now, etc....

I will start.....

We started the process again for baby #2 about a month ago. I told myself to be patient and to not let the waiting "get to me" but it already has. I am starting to question everything about our profile, agonizing over how long our wait will be, and the list continues.

We signed on with our same facilitator (who says it has been "slow" right now) and are just "patiently" waiting.

Lets support each other and have some fun too!!!!

Sara

Yay! A bright, shiny new thread!

We have unexplained infertility and are hoping to adopt our first child. We've been with our current agency for almost 8 months and we signed with a second agency last month. Hopefully, we will be on the second agency's books by August.

The wait is HORRIBLE!!!!

Hi all, We are hoping to adopt our first child, and have been waiting for a match for just a few months now. Right now things are so busy I'm not thinking about it too much, but when I do I go back and forth between feeling like I am so excited and it feels so close that I can reach out and touch it. Other times I think "oh my gosh, it's NEVER going to happen!". Right now we're saving up to build an addition, so if the match happens before we can finish that, then great, the sooner the better! If it doesn't, then we'll just be more prepared. My biggest concern is getting too old to be a first time mom the longer we have to wait (I'm older than my hubbie).
Thanks for starting a new thread!

Hey! I was thinking of starting one of these too....or, at least, hoping someone else would start one!

DH and I had planned on starting the process for adoption #2 this summer when we received an email from our DD's birth mom (this will be our 2nd adoption) saying she is pregnant. She informed us that she is almost positive that she will be placing this baby, and she will only place if DH and I adopt the baby. Of course, we said we'd be honored to if that's the decision she makes. So we are now waiting to see what happens. If she decides to parent we will contact our attorney we used for adoption #1 and start all over again.

Anyway. So we're not really waiting to be matched, but I was hoping you wouldn't mind if I joined the thread anyway!

My wife and I are waiting to Adopt our first child. We are unable to have biological children. We are currently doing straight adoption through foster care. Since we are doing it through foster care the wait is longer for a legally free child in our age range. We started the classes and paperwork back in Nov 2008. We have been licensed and have been "officially waiting" only 3 weeks thus far but everytime the phone rings we each wonder if it's "THE CALL". We are optimistic and hoping that it works out by the end of the summer. I will say that there was one situation that we were picked to parent the child but stuff with the Bmom was going to be more than we can handle so that didn't work out but at least we are on the minds of workers. Our adoption worker is awesome and is working hard to to find "Our forever child".
Since we have a 5 year age range it is even harder to "prepare" so the wait makes of think of more things so we are just anxious! I'm done ranting.

Thanks for starting this thread.

Yay! Great idea to start a new thread.

We are on the journey for our second adoption. This month we are doing our homestuday update, working on getting our online profile up and running, and starting to network. We are also on our agency's wait list to get into their pool.

We used the same agency for our first adoption. It was nine months from us submitting our application to bringing our daughter home. This time we're stalled on the wait list. We just passed the nine month mark.

Thanks again for starting the thread!

Hi all - I'll join!!

We have a 3-year-old daughter through adoption who's the coolest kid ever, and as of a few weeks ago we're now officially in the book waiting for #2. (Blessed, we're exactly on the same schedule!! ) If we got the call tomorrow I'd be terrified (A came home at 8 months so we have NO newborn stuff), and if we had to wait two years I'll be devastated, so I keep saying to DH "So . . . how's October sound?"

The complete lack of control is REALLY tough for me!

I'm glad to share this with you all, and I hope we all get good news soon!!

My husband and I are waiting to adopt our first child. Because of our level of openness and the few number of families with our agency, we thought we'd be parents already. I guess we should have taken into account the number of emoms working with our agency. We aren't very patient waiters We're now in consideration of signing up with an additional agency, but I can't imagine doing more paperwork and paying more money. So here we sit, waiting with all of you.

I have been looking forward to a thread like this one!

We have also gone the infertility route. (A few rounds of clomid (YUK!) and 2 iuis.) We went to a seminar on IF/Adoption in May with the thought of moving on to IVF. That was the turning point for us. We had previously discussed adoption, but dh needed more information. The seminar was fantastic and from that day on, we knew that we were meant to be parents via adoption! It was so exciting to hear how excited dh was as I was already ready!!!
I'm fortunate to be a teacher, as I've had the summer to do some research. Our home study is soooo soon! 7/26! We have an agency meeting on the 22nd. We feel confident that we will go with them. At this time, they only have 7 families and 3 are already matched.

I am looking forward to going through the journey with you!

Hi all!

We were placed with our first last July, and finalized in January. Then we decided to do it again in March, and we were re-approved earlier this week, so here we are waiting again! We are using the same agency, and are in the same ABC (minority) program, so who knows what awaits us?!?! Last time we were told to expect 6-12 months, got matched the first time at the 6.5 month mark, went through 3 failed matches in as many months, and picked up our DD right at the 10 month mark! So let the games begin!!!

Ok, where to start.

I am a daycare provider so I care for anywhere from 1-8 children for 12 hours a day. Finally after many years of this I finally decided to adopt. I have no fertility issues that I know of. I have bipolar disorder and have been stable with meds for many years so I decided that going off my medication would not be a good idea.

So I signed with a local non-profit agency that is relatively small but I know eventually the baby that is meant to be mine will find me so I sit patiently with my daycare children and wait. (my wait is approximately 2-3yrs)

Right now Im so busy with my daycare babies that I cant think about my wait most of the time. During the down time I play a new Wii game and during the evening I have Tae Kwon Do to release the stress as well. The first day after I was officially waiting I had a bad day thinking the day would never come I would get a call but after a good Canoli and board breaking at class and I was good again.

I'm so glad you started a new thread! I never got in on the old one and couldn't really start on page ...whatever it is now! My DH and I are currently on the waiting list for our second blessing from above. We have signed on with a new agency stating that 75% of the couples are matched within 3-12 months but I'm not holding my breath too much! The wait doesn't seem nearly as bad this time, I'm sure b/c I already have one handsome little man at home to keep my occupied ... very occupied! I will admit though I do catch myself wondering if it will ever happen and getting excited at that average time frame for a match! Good luck to everyone!

As you know, Blessed...we're waiting too. I finally decided to announce it. We've been waiting for 3 1/2 months. Our DD needs a sib!
