OT Scab Picking

This is off topic, but I need some trick or advice. My almost 2-year-old gets bug bites, scratches them so they turn into big boo boos, then she continues to pick at the scabs, so she walks around with blood all over her arm/leg and fingers. They are not healing. It has been 3 weeks, and I can't think of a way to keep her from doing this. She doesn't seem to care that it probably hurts and there's blood all over her. She cries when she gets hurt in any other way, though. I have tried band-aids and she just takes those off. I can't watch her 24/7, but I really want them to heal! Any advice?

Liquid bandage? I use it on my 2.5yo. Also, try to keep putting moisturizer on her. The scabs are dry and itchy so she is probably scratching them off cuz it itches her. My little guy scratches and scratches too. We also tend to keep his nails short so he can't scratch as hard.

Good luck!

Also maybe try "cool" bandaids? Hello Kitty, etc. . . My children are allergic to all but sensitive skin bandaids, which don't come in anything fancy, but the little spot bandaids have helped a lot, even if they aren't "fancy". Even at 2, I found I could get my littlest to keep on bandaids if she knew there would be an award -- a little young for behavior mod approaches, but they helped a lot. susan
