Baby due in 2 days! Help please...
My husband and i really want to adopt again. we were just starting to discuss foster to adopt when we were contacted about a wonderful woman who is due Monday and would like us to adopt her baby. Crazy right?! Well we have no attorney and when I called around they are so expensive. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but we just brought our daughter home from Guatemala and are drained financially. Is there anyway we can do some of the work ourselves? Maybe go to the courthouse and ask for help? I don't even know what I'm talking about so if amyone can give me some advice I'd appriciste it so much!
Thanks julia

My understanding is you need a current homestudy. I'd say a good starting place would be to call an adoption attorney and ask them what you can do by yourself to cut costs. What state you're in will also make a difference.

I would call around and talk to different adoption attorneys. Would also ask what you can do but that would depend on the state etc. Maybe get a loan if this is a sure deal
Wish you luck!

You'll need a current homestudy but this can be rushed and done pretty quickly, atleast the baby could come home to you in a few weeks I think. You need to call around to some attornies and see what their charges are and when they are due. Our adoption was under 6k and we just had to have it paid by the time we finalized when Castle was 6 months old so we never had to pay out more than $200 at a time.
