And he's......almost.....OUT (of crib)

I knew this day was coming He's not out out but his leg was ALL the way over and he did get out of his pack and play last weekend. So the time has basically arrived.

I'm not ready. I want to cry. He's already stopped napping, he's too hyper and fast to not have the crib.

This is basically a nightmare. We will try the netting but I think he'll freak out.

Don't they have double height cribs? Wow. This is the worst I need my chill out time!

We purchased a crib tent and our 2 y/o loves it. I think it made him feel more secure and he sleeps so much better. I went from a baby that never napped longer than 20 minutes at a time. Now, I put him down for a nap and he sleeps about 2 hours. It has been a lifesaver for us.

Thanks Jill, hope it works for us too! We will get one tonight. Truth is E does love his crib so hopefully he'l like the netting too.

I think DH is the one who freaks out thinking about it!

I used the crib tent for the pack and play- we were staying at my parents after I had surgery and he was getting out. It wasn't safe.
I totally played up the tent as being really cool and exciting and he fell for it!

We had this problem also but have a newer convertible crib that can not accommodate a crib tent. My husband took the bracket that holds the mattress out and dropped the mattress to the floor inside the crib frame still. It gave us several more inches and my son can't even reach the top now. I would imagine this will only work with the newer style cribs that have a low to the ground opening near the bottom part of the crib, our footboard is solid wood all the way down. Also, if you have anything in the crib that he can use to climb out you may need to remove that (bumpers, large animals, pillows). I feel your pain, hope you find something that works!

Is a pack and play safe for a 2 yr old? We put ours away months ago b/c A. was too big for it and he is a small baby.
We have moved him to a twin bed. I bought two extra long side rails and we put the bed against the wall. Our big problem, he will not fall asleep in the bed instead he falls asleep on the floor and we then have to put him in the bed. I was dreading having to make this transition, but he has done great! We also put up a baby gate; it is higher up on the door frame so he can't crawl over it. He has not escaped once!!!!

We also have the convertible crib and just went ahead and converted it once Bella started escaping. So now it's more like a "day bed" with the crib on three sides. She loves it.

I'm with you, Storm. I know the time has come, but I can't bear the thought. Let us know how the tent works! (I may just run out and get one)

Welcome to my world. DS started to climb out, freaked with the tent...we did the toddler bed thing...that was a joke....now he's in a twin and it's a nightmare. We must take him back to his room 5X a night at a minimum. And he doesn't nap either. UGH!!! Why can't they stay little forever???? Hehehehe. At least my 5yo sleeps like a log for 13 hours straight!
