Joshie called 911 today!

The sheriff came out, ambulances, oh Lord...this kid is going to be the very death of me!

The day started off terrible; when I went to get him out of his room, I noticed he had baby powder on him from head to toe and all over his bed and blanket and pillow.

Then, while he was "down" for his nap, I heard a huge crash followed by a scream. I ran and lo and behold, he had found in one of his toy drawers, a little glass globe with water and glitter and had smashed it against the dresser and was literally holding shards of glass in one hand!

Then, the 911 call happened.

Then, I got him a cheeseburger for supper which he decided to smear the ketchup all over the carpet and walls while I was in the bathroom!

I can't take much more excitement today; I went through his room on hands and knees and took tons of stuff out then put him to bed.

Calgon....TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!

Blessings, Michelle

Oh, I feel for you! My oldest somehow called 911 when he was about 2 1/2, and then left the phone off the hook so they couldn't get through when the operator tried to call back. I had 2 police officers show up at my door, and ask if they could look around the house to make sure everythings was okay- they even looked in the closet! I was so embarassed at the time, but at least it makes for a funny story now!

A few months ago my 7yo called 911. I was upstairs in the shower and she was doing her chores. I guess she got bored. They tried to call back but I was in the shower. One of my little ones actually brought me the phone but no one was there by the time I got it.

After I got out, "a guy in brown clothes" was at the door according to the kids. Great. What does the UPS guy need this early in the morning?!? I wasn't even dressed. I put on my robe to answer the door. Yikes! Not the UPS guy.

I had a momentary panic. The last time the sheriff came to the door our oldest dd had been killed in a car accident. He must have thought it odd that he was coming to check on me and I was asking him if everyone was all right.

Life is just interesting with kids around. More interesting with some kids.

Mondk- I am a paramedic. I had a call once where 2 brothers were in trouble with their parents and had been sent to their room. They called 911 and said someone had been shot and the gunman was still in the home. The next thing the parents know, the police storm the house, pulled guns on them, throw them on the ground, handcuff them the whole nine yards. The police found the boys in the closet of their bedroom laughing their butts off. After that, the police released mom and dad and they supervised as dad gave the boys a good old fashioned whoopin'. Don't feel bad about Joshie calling 911. It could have been worse.

Mondk,
I feel your pain!

My dd called 911 when she was 4. When the police came I apologized to them, but used it as a learning lesson. I told her, in front of the officer, that if it were a true emergency that the Police would be there very quickly to help her in any way.

I was mortified about it, but the officer was very nice, LOL

A friend is a 911 operator and he said they get a lot of calls from little kids whose parents have given them an old cell phone to play with - if you don't take out the battery, the phone can still dial 911!

Something I had never thought about (although we don't give DS old phones to play with as we don't want him to play with our working phones - MIL does give him her old one).

Irony - my friend's kids have done this while he was home with them!

Sorry..he's definately a handful!

My neighbor's little girl (age 4) called 911 crying saying her father was being so mean to her. When the police showed up, Dad was shocked. The police wanted to talk to the little girl without the father present. Mom got Mariella and the cops said "Was your daddy hurting you?" and she said 'yes'. The cop said "What did he do?". She said "He won't let me watch Dora the Explorer".

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

Just an FYI all it takes is to hit #9 in most places and 911 will come on the premise that someone is in a situation where they were not able to completely dial 911.
A few years ago my brother's friend had unexpectedly passed away. Everyone had gathered at my house in grief. My father decide he was going to call 411 to get the phone number for the funeral home and mistakenly dialed 91 and realized in the confusion he dialed incorrectly and immedialy hung up. Low and behold, the same thing happened with all kind of emergency apparatus. The police had to come into the house to make sure nothing was wrong since they heard crying and lots of people inside.
At least you know that EMS is doing their job.
