Wonderfully amazing/scared

So we switched agency's in May! We were told that our wait would probably be fairly short... we didn't get our hopes up TOO much LOL! Last Thurs we got THE call that we were picked by a Biomom (@ 215) and she would like to meet us asap. Her due date was July 22, but having contractions that day. We set up a time to meet for this past Mon. WELL at 815 we got another call that she was in labor and would like us to come to the hospital!!!!! WOW!!! off we went! We met her at the hospital (via a nurse who was updated as to what was happening by the sw). Our meeting was wonderful and we spent the next 11 hours with her until the baby was born Fri morning!!! BOY!! 6# 5oz, 19 in long. Breathing was good for being four weeks early but had some sugar problem the first day...all good now. We spent most of the weekend at the hospital with biomom and baby!! She is an amazing woman!!! We felt very good about the time we spent with her and liked her very much...hopefully that was mutual. Biomom was discharged on Sat. Baby come home with us on Sun. I have new mom worries...his jaundice was fairly bad (looking better today) and his circumcision looks swollen to me today so I called nurse (waiting for call back). I am hoping that it is just the platibell coming off and the exposed skin just irritated by the diaper!!!!

We are in the risk period of biomom changing her mind until July 29!!! This worries me as I cannot living without him! He is absolutely precious!!! I never knew I could love another fella more than I love dh!!! Until now that is

I just had to share our whirl wind experience, though not over, I am praying it all works our for us this time... (we had a failed match 3 mos ago with our old agency...we got the bad call thirty mins before we were leaving to pic up baby, and had spent time with her in the hosp!!!)

Melissa

Congratulations! That's very exciting.

It's always safer to call the nurse/physician when not sure about something, especially for a slightly premature baby. I recall that the circumcision site of infants that I cared for in the nursery always looked horrible the first day or so, but usually improved soon after.

Wow, how exciting. Congratulations!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly until the 29th! I know how difficult that wait period is, we just went through it but it looks like you've made it past some of the biggest points. Congrats.

Congrats! I hope your at risk period goes by quickly. If you don't hear back from the nurse soon, you might take him to an urgent care center. I don't remember swelling at the site of the circumcision. Especially if its been a couple of days.

UPDATE: the nurse called back and we ran down to the dr. for a squeeze in!! the dr. didn't like how the circumcision looked either, he said the skin was seperating..ouch! he sent us right over to the urologist. the urologist thought it looked like it would heal okay, to put neosporine on it. our poor little guy had an outdated type of circumcision done..plastibell cirucmcision. the dr. said he doesn't seem them much anymore and doesn't do them that way himself. i think this was the first one the urologist has ever seen since he tried to pull it off!! i say ouch, but our lil fella slept right through it!! amen!!!

Thank you all for the comments and advice...I now have first time mom nerves..LOL!

Oh, sw said her visit with biomom went well. she has writen us a letter and our lil fella one too!! i am in the process of writing her! So far things look good...though only been few days!!

Oh how I remember being in your shoes, loving that baby so much more than you ever expected but being so worried that it might not work out. I'm sending prayers up that this time is a keeper, and it's sounding like it could be by social workers comments, and that everything works out for you. Can't wait to see pictures.

I often write about when my son was placed in my arms how nothing else mattered not even DH, it was just DS and I and that was the world. I know how you feel Congrats Mommy!
