Just wanted to say welcome to MiliesMommy, sissyminsky, and JLyle! We had our HS update home visit tonight, it was a piece of cake. Just working on getting a few documents they need. Physicals soon - does anyone else completely DREAD the physicals? This will be our 3rd time doing them for adoption, and I'm always scared they'll find a reason to say no - we're both overweight and DH has a heart murmer he's had since he was a baby. What's stupid is I also have to get a Dr to sign off on DS, who's 2, saying there's no health problems that would stop us from parenting another...how dumb, IMO.

Welcome to all the new folks!

Jen- So what do they do in the update? Do you discuss any strategies to get your profile shown to more expectant families? Sorry about having to have more medical clearances, but it's probably not the most inconvenient thing that you could do annually.
In my opinion, the worst thing would have to be getting recommendations annually.

Today is Mike's last day of school! I'll have my house-husband back for 2 months! He's such an awsome guy. During the school year he packs both of our lunches, cooks supper, and does the laundry. During the summer, he makes breakfst too, and sometimes drives me to work!

He's gonna be a great SAHD!! I'm such a lucky girl!!

So the eMom who we were presented to decided she wanted a family who already had a child so she "would have a forecast of how the baby would be raised"

Sigh. Onto the next one I guess!

We are continuing too.

Once the baby arrived, her mother decided to parent.

It has been a crazy two weeks, but we decided we are still in.

So, I am just enjoying some time off with my family...

( Oh, and in TX we have to update every 6 mos now so I think we'll be up at the end of the summer)

Well, we are officially almost at 2 years into this process, so I think I can safely say that I can be a member of this club.

We never dreamed when we began this process that 2 years later we would still be waiting, but we are. We started out with many possibilities and being presented many times, only to dwindle off to being shown only once or twice within a 6 month period.

I can't tell you how discouraging it is to see babies being born all around us, and to still be waiting. We are about to have to update our homestudy and fingerprints again for the 3rd time. I sometimes wonder if I have the strength to do it one more time.

I'm not sure why we have not been blessed with a baby, but as each new day comes and goes the dream that we had slowly begins to feel like just that........ a dream.

I have heard everyone say that if you book a vacation or trip you get "the call". Well, we are scheduled to travel 18 hours to Oklahoma in August. As much as I want to go to Oklahoma, I would gladly change my plans to get "the call".

I hope everyone gets their little miracle soon.

We actually didn't do anything with regards to how to get our profile shown more or anything like that during our update. Our hs agency is very small and local and we're not even really signed with them - they don't have any of our profiles. They've never placed an AA baby before, and that's what we're specifying, so we're not going to waste the money and energy to get profiles made for them. We're currently waiting with an agency and a referral agency. I'm thinking of dropping the agency and just waiting with the referral agency, but I'm not sure. There just seems to be NO movement with the agency, and at least with the referral there's a few possibilites each month...not that we're ever picked.

This is a busy week, so that will help, but some days just suck.

Oh oh I got another good reason to wait so stinking long.

#4. More time to work on the nursery which I wont finish till the baby is here. Ive got everything except putting up the border and paint under the border because the nursery may end up changing to be gender specific.

#5. Start sleep less to prepare for no sleep when the baby comes.

#6. If a first parent find the peditrician.

Any suggestions for interviewing peds?

Well, I had to go digging back a ways to find our thread, but figured I'd at least hop on and say happy Friday/weekend to you all. Any fun plans?

We're getting our physicals today then we're done with our part of the update. Our SW will be emailing me the draft to read. She's very new, but has had some help with it and seem really really nice. We're being approved for siblings up to age 3. Not really what I imagined, but decided to do that in case a perfect situation came along for us.

Our agency called earlier this week to say that a mom really really likes us and has picked us....but she's not sure about placing. She, according to the agency, is leaning toward placing, but wants to wait until July and possibly meet us if she is more strongly considering placing (like, 90%). She then want to put baby (coming in August) into temp. care for 30 days before deciding for sure and signing TPR. I realize what a huge decision this is for her, and I want her to take her time and make the right decision. I'm looking at it as she's not going to place, which is completely fine. I truly want any mom who would place her child with us to be as confident as she could be with us. However, at least it's activity!

Well, "unfortuntaly" my dh and I are qualified to join this thread. We started the adoption process back in April '07, our hs was finished Nov '07. No activity with the small agency so we renewed hs in Nov '08 and contracted with another agency in Feb '09. We were briefly matched with a emom in May, but after only a couple of weeks the agency highly recommended we back off due to too many red flags and the amount of money involved. I hate that so much of this revolves around money. So now we are back to waiting. I know our profile is being shown almost every month so I just keep telling myself that eventually some one will like us. But the waiting is getting old. Some days I don't even think about it and other days it is all I think about. Anyways, it is atleast good to know that their are others out there and we are not alone and so many people are willing to share their story to help us all get through the waiting a little easier.

Why does waiting seem less bearable around holidays?

This is my husband's first Father's Day since his dad passed away, and it's going to be hard. I think we were all hoping that DH would be celebrating tomorrow as a dad .

Maybe the cat's will get him something nice....probably not, they're really cheap, and not too happy about sleeping in the basement this week.

Can I Join?

Hi!

We have been officially waiting for 19 months! I never thought we would still be waiting. When we started the process for DS it took only 9 months of waiting.

In some ways it is easier waiting for #2, but in other ways it is harder. I am busy with life and keeping up with a 6 year old. Then usually at least once a week, DS will ask when is our baby going to come and when baby comes he is going to this and this with him/her. Just when I have been able to live and not think much about it, him asking makes it all come back to how long we have been waiting.

I actually asked DH if God puts a desire into a person's heart, are they supposed to keep praying and waiting or give up? He said to keep praying and never give up. I love my DH

So we are in the process of updating our profile since things have changed in the last 19 months. I found out a couple of months ago that we were one of two families that a expectant mom was considering. We obviously didn't get picked, but it gave me hope. Haven't heard anything else.

Weary of waiting.

I meet the criteria to join...

Hi there,
I just went through the posts and wishing this thread didn't have to be...but glad it is here because I could use the support! I hope to offer mine as well

Been homestudy ready for #1 since March '08, but we signed with our facilitator in January '08 and have not had a match in that time. If you take a look at our siggy, it's been a long road overall just waiting for our child.

We just decided this week to add another adoption person to our search and I'm sending in the paperwork this week to sign on!

Hope all of our waits end soon....
