With the ever changing tide of adoption, the domestic adoption arena has become even more competitive and as such, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of edits we’re having to make regarding links to professionals, profile sites as well as websites for hopeful adoptive parents – I need to take a minute and remind our users that doing so does violate our Forum Rules regarding the use of the site for purposes of networking.

Adoption.com’s forums are here for purposes of support – we invite and encourage all sides of the triad to register and use the site for means of support and guidance during their various journeys related to adoption.

As such, it is inappropriate for hopeful families to reach out to, even in a non-invasive manner, women seeking support for their unplanned pregnancy.

Additionally, it is inappropriate for expectant parents to use our site as a means in which to locate potential adoptive parents for their unborn child.

Adoption.com is a support resource designed to provide peer-to-peer support to users who have first hand experience with adoption.

I ask that you please refrain from posting links to your adoption profile within your posts or signatures. If you’d like to make your profile available, there is an appropriate place you can paste the link within your Forums User Profile – which you can access via the link at the top of the page labeled “UserCP”.

Please keep in mind that our Forum Rules encompass all aspects of the Adoption.com Forums Community – which means it is inappropriate for you to use Private Messaging, Profile Comments or E-Mail User functions on our site in which to network with potential parents (of either side).

I will reiterate, as I often do, that we have no access to your Private Messages or E-Mails – so following the rules in that area is done on the ‘honor system’ – however, if inappropriate messages are forwarded to us, as they sometimes are, we do take a Zero-Tolerance stance and ban without warning and without question.

We want Adoption.com to be a safe place for everyone and one of the ways we can do that is by ensuring that people aren’t ‘pounced’ on when they post about their situation.
