OT - anyone from Phoenix here? Travel questions...

Way off topic, but I was wondering if there is anyone from Phoenix here that could answer a couple traveling questions for me. My DH wants us to go with him on a business trip for a couple weeks. I'm not much of a traveler to begin with unless I have my 5th wheel behind me...so I am overwhelmed trying to find info and figuring out if I can do this with a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old. The place he has found to stay doesn't look overly child friendly - its a golf resort, and I was looking for some rental info for gear, but it looks so expensive. I have never traveled with the kids before and I hate flying! Anyone have any help for me on where to look? PM me if you rather. Thanks!

Ehat golf resort are you staying at? Pheonix is totally doable with 2 kids. Its one of the few cities I would try it in. The zoo is absolutely the perfect size for kids. Incredibly accessible. Everything is nice and close together. There are baseball games, you will be able to hang out at the pool every day. Scottsdale is a great little walking town with paths everywhere. I think there is a childrems museum there also. Honestly, I can't think of anywhere else I would want to be cooped up with two kids that age. If I were you, I would totally go for it! If you have any say in where you stay, I prefer Scottsdale to Pheonix for vacationing.

What are you looking to rent?

Thank You for the reply.
We are staying at the Arizona Golf Resort and Conference center. It is on the East side of Phoenix, Mesa area - we don't have to stay there, but we do have to stay on that side since my DH is actually working 1/2 hour or so East of Phoenix down HW #60. The pool at our hotel looks like it is not really a toddler-friendly size. No wading area. I think there is a mall within walking distance - but it seems like everything else is a drive. We will have a rental car - but my DH will have it at work - which will be 10 hour days so he probably will leave before kids are up and maybe be back for bedtime. I don't know how to get around in a strange city with no wheels...I am from small town Canada - I have only used pulic transportation a handful of times long before I had children.

I am debating between taking stuff or renting - booster or high chair, 2 car seats, double stroller. I think those are things I will need.

I am from Phoenix-actually grew up in Scottsdale, but, now live on the west side of town. I agree with pp-Scottsdale is beautiful-especially this time of the year! I am not too familiar with the Mesa area-there are a few nice malls out there though-one is an outlet mall. I have never rented anything-nor would I know where to. Sorry-but, if I can help you in any way-let me know. My husband is very familiar with that side of town-as he works out that way. I can ask him more specifics on where things are.

Our offices are (and I live) in Mesa...actually, I am moving this weekend and next weekend and will live very close to where you'll be staying.

To be honest - "East Mesa" (which is what that area is called, by locals) isn't much - it's mostly residential with a mall here and there.

Do you know where your husband will be attending class? Because Mesa is pretty large - and just staying in "Mesa" doesn't mean you'll be staying close to where the class is...

If you can make it work, I'd recommend Point South Mountain Resort - they have a waterpark and kids area right on property.

Luxury Phoenix Arizona Hotels | Arizona Grand Resort | Family Friendly Vacation Resorts

If you want to PM me and tell me where the class is, I can give you a better idea of distance and whatnot.

Sorry, I guess it's not called Point South Mountain anymore LOL

The link is good - that's the place I was talking about. We did a 'weekend' thing there last summer - it was a ton of fun.
