Adoption Tax Credit to Expire in 2010

I saw this on a website and just wanted to post it for everyone to see and to encourage adoptive parents to contact their senator or representative to ask them to vote in favor of extending the adoption tax credit:

"This year the 2009 Federal Adoption Tax credit is $12,150 but the tax credit is set to expire in December 2010 unless Congress votes to continue it.

The Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2009, H.R. 213 will keep the adoption tax credit from being expiring.

H.R. 213: Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act of 2009 (GovTrack.us)

Please take a moment today to email or call your senators and congressmen."

Here is the link if you need to find your representative or senator’s contact info:

It's always a good idea to let Congress know what we want, but alot of credits are set to expire at certain times. Most likely when the time comes, they will extend the credit. Same thing with the energy credits, ect.

I've sent emails to both of our Senators, and my representative... I'm very worried about the credit ending... if no one steps up and expresses their concern, it won't be taken seriously, YKWIM?

We talked to our accountant about the credit...not an issue for us since we adopted in 2007 and our family is complete...but we were concerned about how it might affect others. Our accountant said that this tax credit is extremely safe...although it is set to expire it would be political suicide for it not to be renewed.

It is still always a good idea to let you reps know where you stand on issues that are important to you!
