How frequent with OA and BF?
I have a general question for those in an open and semi open adoption. How frequent are you with your visits with the BF? Especially if the birthmom is not able to see you ds or dd as often as you like? I am sure what's comfortable for us is best, but just curious if anyone has set up an amount of time that you allow...
Thanks for the input.. (i will x-post)

We see DD's bdad every couple of months. I'd say every 6-8 weeks or so. We've kind of left it up to him and whenever he calls and that's about how often he calls to visit.

our son's birthfather dropped out of the picture when he broke up with bmom...ds was 1 year old. I have reached out with e-mails and pictures but he does not reply. I personally would allow him the same openness we have with ds's bmom if he wanted it. But like many men he has chosen no contact at this point. He told ds's bmom that he doesn't want to confuse ds, and that he knows he's in good hands and doesn't want to "mess it up".

We have two visits a year, plus some emails & photo exchanges. He has had some serious grief issues he has not dealt with and crossed some boundaries so we try to set clear expectations.

We had visits with our oldest daughter's bfather the same as her bmother. We would visit on the same day- back to back times at a neutral location (park, play area, etc)
We actually had a visit plan with her bfather but not bmother, but bfather did not show up. We try to provide him the same opportunities. |
