OT: Cloth Diapers and foster care placements
I have a question. We do emeregncy fostercare and also newborn care (while pbmom is deciding if she will place baby or not) Was wondering what people thought of clothing diapers? I do so much for the world and was looking to do more. What kinds of clothing diapers do you use? Is it easy to switch a fostercare placement to cloth diapers? Also what about a two year old foster placement and clothing diapers? Thanks so much and god bless! Summer

We are licensed foster parents and plan to cloth diaper if we ever get a placement... (Long vent about my county there...) I just plan to seperate the diapers by color and use certain colors for foster kids, then bleach them after the child leaves before using them on a different child.
We switched my son to cloth when he was almost 2 and it was not a issue at all. We use Bumgenius 3.0 It is a one size diaper. That means it has snaps that make is smaller so you use it from birth to potty trained. We began cloth diapering when Spencer was about 1 month old and have used the same diapers for both kids since. It is a pocket diaper, so I use one insert during the day and add additional at naptime / bedtime. They are more expensive, but so worth it! And I don't need a stash of diapers on hand for an emergency placement because I can make these fit any child!

We use Fuzzi Bunz for all of the kids...we just have bins of the sizes, and pull out the right bin when a new child comes.
As no bleach is necessary or recommended. When I'm putting away a set, I use lemon juice and sunlight to bleach out any stains, and then wash with extra tea tree oil for sanitizing. |
