Cameron ate food by MOUTH!!!
Big, big day for us!
 We went in for Cameron to have a feeding evaluation and he actually let me feed him a tiny bit of sweet potatoes! And he enjoyed it; he didn't even seem afraid that I was by his mouth.This is why this is so huge: He has been completely tube fed for over 10 months, due to all of his heart issues, forgetting how to swallow, paralyzed vocal cord etc. He was also intubated for basically 9 weeks and was suctioned so many times. During that time, he failed extubation at least 7 times in a row. It was depressing. At times we wondered if he'd ever get off the vent and off oxygen. Well, he pulled through and did, but wasn't able to eat like a healthy child does. He was afraid of us putting anything in or by his mouth for months, as he was afraid we'd do something painful like suctioning him. But for some reason today, he let me feed him.  And he wasn't afraid. And he enjoyed it! He actually got to taste something good. He looked like any other healthy kid with baby food all over him. I wanted to cry. We also visitied his nurses and his CT surgeon who told me over and over, "he looks so PINK and so big!" And then I remember, that's right, babies aren't supposed to look blue. Now we get to work on tiny tastes every day and we'll continue working with OT/PT every week.  for sharing in my proud mom moment.

all the AI attempts insurance would cover and one IVF attempt that insurance did not cover - before July 04 started investigating adoption - July 04 signed with agency - Sept 04 Homestudy complete April 05- "we're in the book!" Considered May and July 05 - not chosen DD born August 05 - we're chosen that same day - home in 24 hours what an awesome baby girl!!! Wish we went right to adoption!! WE'VE FINALIZED!!! FOREVER OURS 4/28/06 Working on domestic adoption #2 - submitted paperwork early Feb 07..... In the Books April 1 - no foolin'!!! Match fell through, end of June - bmom decided to parent. Disruption of baby girl in August - bmom decided to parent.... Matched - December 2007 Baby born Feb 08 - Welcome Baby Cakes!!

DDW - That is FANTASTIC! I know what a big deal this is and I am so happy for you and Cam. I am hoping feeding continues to go well (cuz honestley of all Em's challenges - the feeding issues were the hardest).
Also congrats on him being pink - what are his sats? Em is still in the 90's. (and does it seem weird that I am asking about his sats - this is a crazy world you and I are a part of  , I guarantee most people never have conversations about what their kid's sats are)

What an AWESOME accomplishment for C. Have fun introducing so many new tastes now and be sure to have a camera nearby so you can capture his reaction to his food likes and dislikes.
