What kind of monster is so dead inside that they can kill an infant???? There was an incident in Beligium yesterday where someone broke into a daycare and murdered 2 infants and stabbed several more - the level of depravity it takes to pull these crimes off just makes me shudder.

I am truly sorry this happened - and hope those other children find a loving home.

I am late to this thread, but want to let you know I will pray for that little angel baby. It just makes me sick to my stomach.

Just wanted to thank you all again for your loving responses and prayers.
As an update, I spoke to the prosecutor today. Jonpaul doesn't understand the magnitude of what he has done and will not try a plea that the state would even consider, so it's going to trial. We will be there. And also, the mother Phoebe is out and she may not be charged in this case. She was out prostituting herself when the murder happened. I told the prosecutor about all the resources she had and that she had a direct line to me and the atty and the counselor and the pregnancy center, and could have called at any time to get help or have someone take the baby. The prosecutor wants to charge her but is still deciding whether she will or not. Oh, and the dcf worker recommended that the baby be taken by the state after he investigated, but some sort of atty overruled this and sent her home with the baby anyway. And gave the other 4 children to her as well.
I wish there was some other information I could provide that would help to hold her accountable. We are going to see if we can find out where he is buried and give him a service and a proper marker.
One more thing: the doctor in the case talked to Phoebe and told her he had a lot of concerns about the baby and told her not to leave him with anyone who was not stable. Advice she obviously didn't care about!
