Adoptionauthor- I love your idea, and that's what I'd like to do except it's pretty cold so it will have to remain an indoor affair.

OakShannon- I also really liked the champagne idea. I'll probably incorporate that.

I think that totally makes sense - especially if you finalized when your baby was still small and you already had a shower or a party celebrating his arrival. In our case, we adopted through foster care and our family and friends lived the anxiety of that with us because there was always the possibility that David might not stay with us. So this is also celebrating the certainty that David is part of our family forever.

I feel lame too. We had a party for DS #2 finalization. I had planned on having one for DD (finalized in Dec. 08). But between a Nov. birthday party, traveling for finalization in Dec., Christmas, an early Feb. birthday party and a Feb. trip... I haven't gotten anything together. We did celebrate with Grandparents at the hotel and at court....but I'm still not sure what to do about a party.
