agency name

For those of you who worked with an agency, or are working with an agency, what is the first letter of the agency's name?

At our first agency, the social worker there said that when an expectant mother begins calling agencies for information to consider making an adoption plan, from the phone book or any other listing, many people begin calling the first few alphabetically. So, she said that many agencies try to make their agency names begin with "A" or close to the beginning of the alphabet. That agency began with "L", our current agency begins with "C".

I'm not saying whether we used them, but there is an agency called:

A Act of Love. I honestly think they used the incorrect grammer so they would be first in the phone book. If they were An Act of Love, others might come before them.

I'm going to start and agency called AAAA Adoptions. I don't know what it stands for yet, but I'll think of something.

That said...the agency we matched through started with A. Our home study agency started with A too.

Very interesting. Our agency also began with an A (but it had Adoption as its first word).

A guy on my floor is a cheesy personal injury lawyer who has an ad on the back page of the yellow pages. I made fun of him until I found out how loaded he was! It's weird, I wouldn't think many people use the yellow pages anymore with the Internet around?

Ours started with a C. I know that with our first adoption the first parents picked the agency out of the yellow pages, and with our second adoption J and J talked to every single adoption agency in our town and went through 60 profiles before narrowing it down to one agency and 4 profiles. They were very thorough!

Our placing agency started with the letter "A." When we asked birthmom why she chose the agency, she said they were the first agency listed in the phone book.

Ours started with a K. And they didn't actually match us, we did that independently.

Our adoption agency name began with "A", our consultants agency name began with "C". We had a prior relationship with the consultants which is why we used them. Every agency that contacted them about us began with letters early in the alaphebet.

I have no doubt this is how alot of pbirthparents contact agencies - because that is how WE did it too as aparents!!

Our agency does start with an A, but the first word is Adoption.

I also think that having a little box with your logo and a small write up looks more professional than just a name and phonenumber in the listing. I'd call an agency with that first.
