Binky i like the way you think.

Funny story. I was talking to my sister in the car about Jessica Seinfeld's book, you know, sneaking all that puree into the toddler food?

From the front seat, my bro in law starts freaking out how it's dishonest to sneak food in, it's wrong wrong wrong and you are lying to your child. It was OTT (over the top) his reaction and i looked at my sister like "is he insane???"

Trns out during his childhood his mother liked to make him a "special cocktail" for breakfast.....chocolate milk with a raw egg! (don't ask) SERVED IN A MARTINI GLASS!

One day, the little boy (my BIL) asks his mom what the yellow stuff floating in it is? And what does she say?

SUNSHINE!

Well that little boy grew up to have huge issues about hidden food. LOL I NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD.

Meanwhile, I'm ALL ABOUT sneaking. I don't feel bad about it at all

ROFL...."SUNSHINE" !!! That's priceless quick thinking!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jessica's Book! Got a copy for my house and sis's house as soon as it came out. If it's safe (back then raw egg was considered safe so she was still a good mum), good for them, and they don't know it's there to fight it or say "no"......it's all good in my book.

Love what they don't know won't "hurt" them! (or give them issues!) We won't tell if you don't!

I mean my mother used to mash aspirin in my apple sauce
and i turned out fine....then again apple sauce does make me heave....

My kiddo actually loves tofu just plain and heated in the microwave. My father was so appalled that he threatened to call CPS. (He was joking. I think.)

But David's favorite snack is made from tofu, ground almonds, brown rice, whole wheat bread crumbs and a little soy sauce. You roll them into little balls and saute them in olive oil. They're actually really good. I make the batter and then just saute 5 or 6 at a time for him to eat. It's my standard "travel" snack if we're going out somewhere. It only takes about 5 minutes to cook them and the batter is really easy too.

I also make oatmeal pancakes and keep them in the freezer. Pop one in the toaster and it's a quick snack. He likes those a lot too.

I do the wheat germ in yogurt or on bananas too. You can buy it in bulk really cheap at a health food store. It has kind of a nutty flavor. Lots of vitamins in it too.

on ww, i have learned that there are some good ''fillers'' that aren't fruits and veggies....oatmeal, popcorn and my new fave...cutting up whole wheat pitas, frying them in olive oil and dipping in guacamole!

i'll admit though i would rather have cookies and ice cream!!!

Storm: DD was no banana fan either....until the wheat germ. Now she eats them with or without.

A new favorite as our house is Hummus with tortillas or mini pitas (we love Trader Joe's Hummus). For my picky 6.5yo, we do cheese quesadillas. Or cheese and crackers. He loves plain pepperonis too so I'll buy turkey pepperonis and he'll make "sandwiches" with the cheese and crackers. Smoothies are a huge hit with my milk lovers. Cereal bars (traders joes again) fill him up for awhile. Every weekend I make a batch of pumpkin pancakes and then freeze them. My kids LOVE them plain and constantly eat those for snacks. I use whole wheat flour and add in wheat germ too. That's what I can think of off the top of my head.
