VERY OT: Has anyone tried the Master Cleanse?

I am seriously considering doing it and have been researching it but would love to be able to get some feedback (and answers to questions, maybe?) from someone who has actually done it... and since Beyonce isn't taking my calls... I thought I'd try here

Thanks Makarios I hear that if you can make it through the first 3 days you can usually stick to it, so good for her!

I made it ten days, lost 10 pounds and felt great...this was about a year and a half ago. I did it again for 5 days about a year ago. Right now I do it two days a week...I was on Isagenix and lost 15 pounds (I had gained it back in the past year and a half of course) in less than two months and loved the program. But Isagenix is very expensive...so I am trying to recreate it on my own...and replacing the Isagenix two day weekly cleanse with the Master Cleanse. I maintained my weight loss during the holidays and am now going to start trying to lose the last 10 pound. I am considering doing the Master Cleanse to lose the rest of the weight and then just maintain with my faux Isagenix diet.

Good luck...it's very, very tough but I enjoy the drink so that really helps.

Thanks so much for the responses! I am excited to start. I just downloaded the Master Cleanse Secrets book last night and am learning lots from it. I forsee a big problem in the fact that we have dinner as a family every night, which is a big part of our day, that family time together... On one hand don't want to not be with my family for that time, but on the other hand... sitting there while they eat...! I deon't know if I can handle that!

I like the fact that the book says that when doing it for the first time aim for 3-10 days! LOL See, Supa? You did GOOD! I'm going to REALLY try for the 10 days My father has already said that I won't be able to make it (way to be supportive!) and I didn't speak to him for a couple of hours last night LOL

I also saw a video where the guy used liquid cayenne instead of powder and that looked like a good idea...

Thanks everyone!

How long did you keep the 10 pounds off for? I fasted a lot while DH was in Iraq a couple years ago, but haven't since then. This thread has got me considering it again!

Butta-you'll do great!

I should have mentioned...I did not do the salt drink...I know my body well enough to know that would not work.

DDW~
I kept the weight off for about a year...then the daily take out lunches caught up with me (my boss buys me lunch almost every day.) Through the Isagenix plan...I learned to view food as a fuel source only...limit portions and lose and keep off the weight.

Good luck OP! Just stick with it...and wean yourself off caffiene BEFORE you start...i didn't and I had horrid headaches.

That is interesting about not doing the salt water. Everything I read and people I talk to say that it is a really important part of it. Did you do the laxative tea instead?

I rarely drink caffeine so I think I will be OK there but I AM a little worried b/c I DO get pretty bad migraines, so I am really hoping I don't get any during the cleanse

Thanks for the support everyone! I just got back from Whole Foods and have pretty much everything and am almost ready to go!

I'm so glad you started this thread. I've been looking into this off an on for about 2 months, and my biggest stopper? I HATE peppers...so I'm worried I'll hate the drink and not stick to it. Nothing worse than trying stuff and failing at weight loss...well I guess not trying at all is bad too, now that I type that!

I used to do liquid cleanses about 2 years ago, not to lose weight, just to cleanse...Usually a couple days every other week. If I could do a few days a month on this, I think that would be great.

I'm worried about the salt water stuff though. I mean, how do you know how to mix it, and I have enough intestinal issues from Gluten Intolerance that I'm not sure I want to willingly go through it too...ya know?

Maybe we should all take the jump. My mom was nice enough to tell me she was surprised when I told her I was down 15 pounds since the last time she saw me...she added...you look the heaviest I've ever seen you. That's awesome, since I'm more than 40 pounds below my heaviest...4 sizes down..that's great. I love it when family is SO supportive.

So where do you find the stuff to make the drink. You have to use a very specific kind of maple syrup right? Not Ms. Buttersworth or anything?

Oh ouch. That must've made you feel not so great. I'm currently 7 pounds below my heaviest ever. Thankfully-because I struggled with an eating disorder for years-my family keeps their mouths shut!

Last Friday I started David Kirsch's Ultimate New York Body Plan. I'm down almost 8 pounds since Friday. And it's not all water weight either. I'm working out 45-90 minutes a day and eating super healthy. I think my body is detoxing from all of the crap I've eaten because I'm breaking out like crazy. After I'm done with this (want to be down 15 pounds) I'd like to try master cleanse.

Off to go run 3.5 miles. Yipee.

Not so much.

Yes! Try it with me! I have been so bummed cause I can't find any of my friends or family here to do it with me and it is one of the things they recommend, having a buddy to support each other along the way. Here is the best link I found (after a LOT of research!):
The Complete Master Cleanse Diet Website

My dad even bought me the ebook after I stopped talking to him for a few hours after he told me that I wouldn't be able to stick to it! It is only $27 and I really like it, there is a lot of really good info in it, but there is almsot as much on the website too. I even just joined a support website on facebook I called Whole Foods before I went down there tio ask if they carried the Grade B, Organic Maple Syrup and the person I spoke to there had done the cleanse and had lots of good insight too.

Aclee, on the site they tell you how much salt to mix. You can also not do the salt water flush but do the herbal tea laxitive instead. I have just heard from a lot of people that the salt water is faster and easier to do whereas the tea can take kind of a while to work and you want to stay home and around the bathroom for that!

We're joining the Y so I can swim. They do water aerobics and water power walking. Nothing kills my mood faster than a treadmill. Seriously...I doubt I could get on one without some Prozac.

I don't mind Elliptical machines though...they aren't mindless...you have to pay attention or you fall right off those bad boys.

We have an exercise bike in the basement...we need to move it upstairs, but it was free on the side of the road, and it needs a bolt or something.

I want to get a jump start on taking the weight off before I start exercise, because it's so much easier to stick to something when you see results...

I cried the other night when DH put butter in his soup. I made him get a new bowl...we gave the butter soup to Ty...he can stand some extra weight. Then after dinner we had ice cream..bought in a moment of weakness (by me) but we only had a teacup full, and we only had it because I had mistakenly bought LIGHT...

I have to ask - if the aim is weight loss, are you not worried it's too fast? I've done my fair deal of diets and the main thing I learned is that if you lose pounds too fast, you'll get them back fast, too.
