the main aim is rid you body of the built up toxins and food deposits in your intestine. The result of doing that is weight loss. I have a friend that's a personal trainer, and he does some other cleanse and I guess he calls his wife in to see his poop because it's amazing what comes out. After 5 days of not eating anything solid, you DO have to wonder why the heck you are still pooping you know???

I don't know how I feel about all of this, to be honest. I was always a size 12-14 and always felt bad about it. I would try this diet and that diet and nothing would work for long term weight loss. A year ago I joined the Y and started exercising. When I ate, I thought about all the work I had done, and did I want to ruin it by eating junk? I also realized I needed to take ownership of what I was eating, and not blame it on everything else in my life. I have said it here before, but, the only one who can control what goes in my mouth is me!! That was so liberating!!

I have lost 50 pounds so far. I think I am done, because I am way thinner than I have ever been. I basically had to become a vegan. I am lightening up on everything, though. I ate some chicken tonight!!! I still cook regular food for my family. I am also up to running between 3 and 6 miles 5 times a week. Oh yeah, and I LOVE PILATES!!

So, if I can do all of this, all of you can. Certainly. I was so not the candidate for weight loss, and I managed to do it. No fad or crash diets involved! Just steady, regular exercise and healthy eating!!

As Aclee pointed out: the main aim for TMC is to cleanse your body of toxins. It is not meant as a long term "diet", everything you read says that. Only short term (most people do 10 days but some do as few as 3-5 or as many as 30). The weight that you lose is some water weight but (my understanding) also the built up waste that sits in your system and is not voided (I know; eeww ). I also understand the cleanse to be a big help at breaking bad habits and getting people back on track for healthy eating. TMC has been around for over 60 years and is truly supposed to be a healthy thing to do, with very little side effects. It is hard to believe that something so relatively simple can be, but all of the ingredients are balanced to give your body what it needs for that short time. They keep your body from going into "starvation mode" (like many crash diets do) and eating up muscle instead of fat.

I did the cleanse about a year ago and I lasted 6 days. I was pretty lethergic and had horrible migraines, but in other ways I felt great. I didn't do it for the weight loss, but more for the release of toxins. After the first 4 days it gets a lot easier, but I had to quit at day 6 because I couldn't take the migraines anymore. Good luck to those that are going for it. You can do it!!!

for some reason (ok, i have a juvenile sense of humor), i keep thinking of poop and laughing.

i haven't tried this program (i am on ww right now), but it sounds like it could be a good jump start for the body...i really want to do a colonics treatment some day (but prob couldn't keep a straight face!)

good luck!!! btw, aclee, like dawn, i am obsessed with the y...you will love it. it's actually kind of like a ''community'' (dd goes to preschool there too).

I use Traditional Medicinals Organic Smooth Move (Senna) tea. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to work...so I can plan well.

The main purpose is cleansing and it is amazing how you feel once you cleanse. Like I mentioned earlier...I used Iasagenix to help me view food as nothing more than fuel for my body. Now if I need a pick me up at 3 or 4 in the afternoon...I eat 4 organic almonds (not four handfuls...4 little old almonds...LOL!)

Good luck and congrats to those who have lost and are losing.

OK.... I am starting on Sunday! I was going to start today but when I woke up the house was filled with the smell of baking ham, as my dad had decided to make a ham. I LOVE ham! LOL So, then I decided I would start the new week, on Sunday, with my new regime. It will also give me a couple of days to prepare. Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted how it goes!

I'm going to join the Y, and do the "half diet". I know it sounds stupid, but my MAIN issue is potion control. I eat healthy, but portions are too large. So if I can eat 1/2 my regular size portion and not feel deprived, I'm hoping I can stick with it. I know that when I exercise (which I hate) I do great with eating (cause who wants to exercise and see no results!) but I have to find stuff I enjoy. So I'm hoping if I join a couple classes I'll meet ladies I like and want to be in class.

I do need to do a cleanse though, but I'm so afraid of the headaches! I get migraines with out doing a cleanse so what can I do that won't aggravate them Does drinking lots of water help?

Aclee, I am very worried about the migraines too I get terrible ones and usually several times a month and treat them with Imitrex, so I am worried that the cleanse may lead to some but we will see. But I am also hopeful that if I DO make it through maybe my migraines will lessen...

OK, I decided that there was not going to be a "perfect" time to start (despite the yummy ham dinner yesterday ) I had planned on stsrting Sunday but then my son came home and told me his dad invited us over for dinner Sunday night (and he is a REALLY good cook! ). So I decided I would just start today cause it seems like there will always be a reason NOT to start.

Soooo.....YUCK!! I hate the taste of the lemonade! Or, I should say: I hate the taste of the cayenne! Bleahh! It is not intolerable but it is nasty. I was really hoping that I would like the taste (Supa?) but it is way too hot and I am just a wuss But I am going to do it, I will just be slugging it back and grabbing the H20 right after

So, it is almost noon, half way through my first day LOL I am not hungry, but I am thinking about food a lot.

I've been following along, I find diet and health topics interesting

I use to get migraines, mainly what I considered sinus....but when I was very very young I realized they followed particular foods (MSG, Aspertame would KILL me today, like I would need to be hospitalized for what doctors would call a "sensitivity" rather than an "allergy"). 6-7 years ago I had my first full blown occular migraine where I thought for sure I was going blind, but again it followed a particular food.

Long story short I just thought I'd share that since cutting out all preservaties I've eliminated "I have migraines" from my life. I don't have them and I avoided the meds that a nuerologist tried to shove down my throat. That luv even had the gaul to say that "you ladies seem to like this med as it helps you shed a few extra pounds." I wanted to punch his overly educated yet underly tactful face.

Toxins are toxins and the preservatives we consume are some of the worst for our bodies to try to breakdown. After cutting out the chemicals I'm way way better overall. I've also suffered from IBS since the age of 2, had my first rounds of testing at 2. It's just the way my boy was made! I would personally never attempt this Cleanse, but I know my body so well at this point and not because of any concerns I have with the process or its effects on the average body. That lead to cutting out wheat and dairy...again I avoided the meds and I don't miss the ingredients. (I'm wheat, dairy, and preserative free) I'm guessing those wtih IBS use a Florastor type product to avoid issues from killing all the "good" bacteria in your gut from the cleanse??

If it's all about toxins, I'd try eliminating some of the big preseratives from your diet and see how you feel in a month. Essentially you're forced to eat "better" less processed foods and you'll be amazed at how you feel!

Portions were an issue around here too, but when you cut out all the processed junk, you really can eat as much as you want of the basics...it's kind of like that old diet concept "stop the insanity" (remember her?! ) Her overall concept was you can eat "alllllll of this" or just the little bit of something else.

I'm looking forward to hearing how this cleanse goes for you all. Hoping none of you have to deal with ick headaches and that it all goes smoothly!! (just type that out and thought...eeewwww that could be viewed as a pooh joke! )
