She's very fussy!

I was wondering what happened to my easygoing, smiling, happy little baby!! She's now 5 months.
The past 2 days she just keeps on fussing, and if she's not fussing it's a wierd talking sound like (aahhhhAHHahh) going on and on. Punctuated by crying and getting really aggravated. She's consolable and she's eating fine, going to the bathroom, stomach is soft, no sniffles, no cough. No fever. Just really irritable. I think I'll take her in to the doctor, but everyone says it's teething. There are no teeth and the gums don't seem very sensitive. She's been producing excess saliva for several months now. She still smiles some but it's a lot less. She cries before going to sleep and she takes more time to go to sleep.
What do you think is going on?
(BTW here is the latest of her in her new dress.)

OMG! SO cute! I cannot believe how big she has gotten! I would say that the fussiness sounds like teeth. Even if you feel there is nothing there they can pop up out of no where! Her gums don't feel hard at all when you rub them? It could be that they havn't gotten close enough to the surface to feel yet and one day they will just be there! Good luck

Sounds like teething! I had one that started at 4-5 months. I couldn't see or feel anything at first and the doc said it was probably not teething yet. Then one morning I could feel two little bottom teeth. They came in quick too. I gave tylenol and applied oragel but neither seemed to really help. We tried everything and his teether of choice turned out to be a cold, wet washcloth. Good luck. She is adorable!

My DD had been drooling for a few months, and had no teeth until she was 9 months old. Overnight, she became fussy and irritable, and began waking up several times a night. Two bottom incisors popped out soon afterwards, and four upper ones are on their way out as well. She's (thankfully) sleeping through the night again (must be because we're on holiday!).

I agree with giving your doctor a call. Better to have another, impartial doc take a look at her (that's what I've learned!)

Yep, it's teething! Caleb's gotten like that too and he's not 4 months yet! I can feel a bump on his top gum. He's making this screechy sound, drools all over his hand, wriggles in my arms like he's trying to run away.

OMG What a GORGEOUS Doll Baby you have there!! I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Doll Baby is definately teething or priming herself to teeth. Just because there are not any visible teeth popping or gums hardening doesn't mean she is not teething. The teeth can be growing way under the surface and cutting throughever so slowly. Have you tried giving her cool teething toys? The coldness on the gums might help.
My boys were exactly like that and it just semned to come on all of a sudden. The crankiness and just plain uncomfortable uneasiness. I paced the floor miles upon miles in the middle of the night trying to get them to settle. Then one day while I was bfing I could feel the difference on his gums as they were begining to cut(little hard bumps)

I would try the cold teethers and if that helps then you definately know it is teething and even if it don't it still could very well be teething. Poor little one. I ended up using the teething tablets later on they literally saved my sanity.

How beautiful! She looks like a doll. Oh, and it sounds like teething. Our son had that problem at around 4 months and it seemed at times he was in pain, but we saw no red gums or any signs of teeth. It wasn't until about a month later that we saw signs of teeth coming in.

Thanks everyone,
she does seem to get cuter all the time! The cold teethers seem to help and she can actually hold them herself. The doc said to give her tylenol infant drops so we may try that tomorrow if this continues, and dh got the teething tabs though I'm not sure what's in them so I'll have to check. If if is teething, this could go on for a long time, right? Uh oh.

Unfortunately, yes. Or at least it did with us or shall I say it seemed like a long time. It was worse with the first teeth that came in and it got better as DS got used to new teeth coming in. He now has eight teeth with two more coming in so he's a pro. I recall using Tylenol a couple of times with the first teeth, which helped. Also tried Baby Orajel a couple of times but it didn't seem to do much.
