Any SAHM's with 16-24 Monthers?

I'd love to compare schedules with you. Our seems off. Mostly because of the early AM naps.

6:30 wake and 6 oz bottle milk
7-8 Play and TV
8 Breakfast (I like to give him time to digest bottle so he'll eat! But should i feed him earlier?)
Then we play, go out or whatever. Sometimes a class
10am-12/1 (sometimes 2) NAP (which is why the late breakfast is good?) He does get another 6oz bottle at this time
1/2 Lunch (sometimes later if he gets up later)
Then just play and hang out with one snack at around 4
Dinner 7
Bath and Bed and bottle at 8

Because of that 10am nap I don't know what i can change really. Does this sound like anyone else's child? We are trying to keep him up later in the mornings so his naps will be at 11. Ideally I'd like him to have an earlier breakfast and a small snack before his nap.

Anyhoo, just wondering. Seems likei have the only toddler in the world who naps from 10-1

He gets up b/t 7:00 and 7:30
Eats breakfast
Plays with girls and at 8:30 we take them to school
He watches TV when we get back
B/T 9:30 and 10:00 he has an 8oz bottle and goes down for nap
He wakes up anywhere from 12:30 to 1:15 and then eats lunch
We run errands, he helps with my chores around the house, or we just play
We pick the girls up at 3:30
He plays after that until dinner which is b/t 5:00 and 5:30
Bath and stories then in bed by 7:00
*only difference is on therapy days; twice a week he has therapy for an hour in the morning. Throws off his nap time

I take advantage of the morning nap by writing bills, showering, cleaning, or just taking a moment to watch some tv or look online!!!

Hi Storm!

Well it's true, A's schedule at that age (on the non-day care days) was a little different, and involved a later nap, e.g.:

Wake up: 5:30 or 6 am. Bottle upon waking
7am Breakfast
8am play at home/TV
By 9am out for some activity
Lunch - usually 11:30 before nap but sometimes after
nap - 12 or 12:30, around 2.5 hours.
Post-nap afternoon activity (usually playground)
Dinner: 5:15pm
Bedtime: 6:30 or 7pm

It's kind of hard to remember now, but I think that's pretty accurate from when she was E's age. But that said I don't see anything wrong with the schedule you have right now. Is there something in particular that doesn't work, that you'd like to change? Since A was going to day care 3 days a week at that age, we basically had to ease her towards a later nap time for the days she was there.

So no bottle when he wakes up? Does he have milk with his breakfast? Our problem with morning naps is we have loads of activities that are mornings and he doesn't last. Today I popped him in the car for an early food shop (trying to keep him up until 11 with 15 minute increments) and guess what HE FELL ASLEEP IN THE CAR AT 9 and is still sleeping in the garage. Today's going to be tough now because he'll probably wake up any minute and then no more naps today!

THIS WOULD LITERALLY BE MY IDEAL SCHEDULE. Maybe go to sleep an hour later and wake up an hour later though.

Ok, I am going to make each of you feel GREAT about your schedules and the only thing I am going to tell you is SLEEP times.

Up between 7-8

Nap for an hour at noon. (later if busy)

here is the kicker (bed between 10-11:30)
This is a new development. She use to go to bed between 9-9"30 and I realize everyone will think that is horribly late, but she is not a sleeper and if I put her down at 8 she would be up at 4 or 5. YUCK. I myself don't go to bed till midnight or later. I am definately a night person.

Granted I'm not SAHM but I am a home day care provider and we keep it as a low key environment just like I was mom and they would be home. Up until 2 months ago the two youngest were still napping in the morning during the fun for about an hour. So my two of mine fall in this category. other two 3

Our schedule is:
breakfast 8:00
play or storytime or run errands 9-11
try to stay up till 11 for lunch
1130-1500 nap yes they all sleep
and somewhere before 4 we eat a snack
I am told they all seem to manage to fall asleep by 830 and they wake between 545 and 630

The fun part is to jiggle the leg of the one trying to sleep while driving home in a 12 passenger van because if she sleeps in van she wont sleep in the house.

Susan, this is the story of my life. But it doesn't work. I turn on the AC, blast the stereo AND jiggle but it never works. In fact, right now he's fast asleep in the car after falling asleep at NINE O'CLOCK. I had taken him out to try and keep him up LATER than his 10am nap but the rain and the car....not a good combo.

It's going to be a loooooong day.

I forgot to the AC and the radio too as well. Although I found the air just makes her close her eyes to avoid the blast of air. The most interesting I found to keep H awake is if M the other 1yr old is throwing a temper tantrum she cant fall asleep with the screaming next to her. So H pats M not so nicely on the head and tells her "SSHHHH and It's OK" And then on top of that the baby E comes in February not mine another daycare sweetheart. Then there goes the schedule.

Our schedule, which varies depending on the day (activities) but this is more to show you the time we do things. We moved Luke to one nap around 16 months, if memory serves, so they both nap together (and a long nap seems to be more beneficial to both of them rather than 2 shorter naps.)

up at 7 or so - breakfast and milk

8-11:30 - play, run errands, etc.

11:30 - lunch

12-12:30 - potty time, read

1:00-3:30 or 4:00 - nap

5:30- dinner

6-6:30 - bath

6:45-7:30 - snack, read, milk, teeth

8:00 - nighty night!

No bottle when he wakes up. I am trying to get him off the bottle; so we are down to two a day. He is NOT a big milk drinker anyway so I give him calcium fortified OJ with breakfast.

This is almost exactly our schedule. My son is 22 months. He naps from 10-12 or 10-1 if I'm lucky.

Lunch is at 2:30 or 3pm, Dinner 5:40 or 6pm. We put him to bed at 7pm, other than that the schedule is identical.

Storm,

You know I work so things are differnet for DD when she is at daycare compared to when she is with DH. On daycare days, they are able to keep her nap to 12- 2 or 2:30 pm. With days home with DH during the week and the whole family on the weekends, she usually naps from 10:30 or 11 am till about 1 ish. We have had scheduled a few play dates on weekends to keep her up till lunch but that is about the only thing that keeps her up.
