OT: My house is haunted!

I just got up from a nap. Something woke me up...I could hear a man's voice, really low, but speaking urgently. (Only me and Joshie home both napping) Then, one of my cats (they were both with me napping on my bed) sits straight up and stares at my bedroom door. Then right outside my bedroom door I hear the sound of paper being crumpled up and then thrown to the floor. I was nearly paralyzed with fear. But I got up anyway and went just outside my bedroom, and sure enough, there was a piece of crumpled up magazine paper in the center of the doorway. I KNOW that that paper was NOT there before I laid down. We have a magazine rack right next to the door. One of the magazines was in the floor too and was opened up.

This is really freaky; once up I wasn't as scared but this still freaks me out. If we do have a resident ghost I'm sure he/she wasn't sent here to hurt us, but I'm still uneasy.

Blessings, Michelle

Wooowwww...

I've had those "moments" where I woke up thinking I heard someone speaking, but NEVER the "extras" like the paper or the mag...

Let us know if you figure out what "it" was!

Oh my!! I sometimes think I hear things in my house but I am easily scared so I think I make it up half the time. I would have got my babies and waited in the car for DH!! Good luck!!

We have a prankster in our house, nuts to say out loud, huh? I know the "houses" history and nothing sticks out, but the land around here is very historic, well traveled and used. I believe in spirits, angels and saints and I think even they get "pranksterish" at times
When we first moved into our house we had the first major "odd" thing happen. Little things had happened already. One basement door just wouldn't open. It wasn't locked (in fact had no lock)& we had just used it. It wasn't warped or stuck, the knob just wouldn't turn not matter what we did. We tired for well over 5 minutes back and forth. My husband ran up the steps to get a screwdriver. As he hit the top of the steps I held the doorknob and firmly said "let go"...the door instantly swung open like a soft breeze had hit it. BUT I was never ever scared or freaked out. We've had several other things happen but I just acknowledge it and go about my day!
My mom once told me something her grandmother told her : Only the living can hurt you, there's no reason at all to fear the dead.

I have 2 ghosts. I do not believe they live here, but they visit often. One would ring the phone every time she came over. It was annoying. It was always right after I had gotten into bed. The phone would ring for a second, and stop. Nothing on caller ID or anything. My daugther has seen her.

Anyway - my advice. Talk firmly outload to the ghost and tell them what you want. For me I said "Thanks for visiting, we are fine, will you please stay away from the phone because you keep waking me up". I went from 8 months of having that phone ring at least every other week, to it completely stopping, and that was 10 months ago. Mind you, she is still in the house because my youngest daughter talks about being watched and followed, but at least my phone does not ring.

It is creppy. but take control of the situation. I have found both of mine to do what I ask.

By the way - what was the crumpled paper about? Do you think he was complaining about whatever was written on it?

Children are way more likely to see things, they're less jaded by what's "suppose" to be. My one cousin had an "imaginary friend" that was with them in an older Philly home. When they moved it didn't move with them. This imaginary friend was the topic of many family conversations, all good and none bad. The friend even once told my cousin to give numbers to my aunt, no instructions just numbers. And my cousin was little, only about 4 at the time. Get this..the numbers came out that night in a big lottery win. And no, my aunt did not play them, she still kicks herself over that one. Yup, true story.

Maybe looking up the history of your home and see if you can find anything of interest . You maybe will be suprised on what you may find. I lived in an old home in Berekeley and always felt a presents in the home i rented a room in. It was a good feeling like who every was around loved the old home and I felt safe inside it. Well one day a young women came up to my door and asked for a Mrs younge I told her that I was renting a room in the house and did not know of the women she was asking about. So I invited her in and she told me she was traveling from europe a few yrs back and at one time stayed inside the home. Mrs young was the owner . she told me of a very old women who rented out the rooms to people who passed throw. Mostly students. She lived in the home for 87 yrs. So i feel she was still there. tina

We used to live in a country schoolhouse built in 1900. We weren't there long when we started seeing "something" out of the corners of our eyes. After a few months it became easier to see what it was. Get this - it was a paper airplane flying through the air. Eventually we would occasionally see our little culprit - a little boy in old fashioned overalls and a long sleeved shirt. Cute little guy. We eventually decided to investigate and learned that a little school boy lost his life when he was accidentally run over by a team of horses when the kids were being picked up after school. I guess after awhile he lost interest in us, because we rarely saw him after we found out what had happened. We moved away when I got a new job. Don't know if he is still around.
I have other stories as well. I think most people do when it comes right down to it. Might be interesting to find out what your visitor wants to communicate. Can you get a history of the house/area/etc.?

Years ago I worked in an office that was set up in a two story house. The original owner of the house died of a heart attack while sitting on his front steps. I didn't know any of this until one day while the bosses were out of the country, I left my office upstairs and went down to the kitchen to get some tea. I heard a man's voice out near the reception room and when I went out and asked the receptionist who it was she looked at me as though I had ten heads. The was no one else there. I thought she was teasing until I realized that I never heard the door open. There was no missing someone coming in the door as they had an annoying strip of big loud bells hanging on it.
A friend of mine had a ghost in her house when she was an adolescent. He spoke to her, told her his name and told her he wouldn't hurt her. After she left the house he wasn't seen or heard from until her little cousin was living there. At about 2 years old he started talking to the air. One day he told them he was talking to "Charlie". Same guy !!!!

We live in a manufactured home that was put here and bought brand new in 2002....I know little about the land. I looked at the crumpled up paper and one side had a woman posing as a butterfly and the other side had a car advertisement.

I watch Ghost Hunters religiously and would like to do some EVP work, but have been told by a few Pagans/Wiccans to not do this alone. They also told me to have my house blessed by a minister or a priest; they said not to do it myself. I'm still pretty uneasy and dh is leaving in a couple hours to go to work; I called my dad to see if he could stay tonight, although I didn't tell him why (he's a big skeptic). He is supposed to be here by 11pm.

One time we left M.C. alone in the house to take a weekend family trip and when we came back she told us we had at least 2 ghosts, but they just watch over us. She said she has been able to see ghosts since she was a kid. She said they weren't threatening in any way, just watching. It still seems weird....

Blessings, Michelle

Yikes, I don't like things like that. That would be very scary to me. And I don't like reading this at almost midnight now!
Did you tell your husband?

My dh is part Indian and does believe in spirits...he seems to think it is parts of our deceased family or angels watching over us.

Brad and I were watching "Hancock" and the DVD player kept pausing itself. I finally stood up and said "whoever is playing or messing with us in this way should stop because we want to see this movie" It quit for a while then started back up again...now Im thinking it is the DVD or the player itself.

We have an old Ouija board here but I'm too chicken to use it....I really don't want to open any portals here...ACK! My dad is here now, so the ghosties can't hurt us!

Blessings, Michelle

Michelle, hmmmm, didn't you used to work with geriatric patients? Was it in a skilled nursing facility or assisted living facility?? I'm wondering if somebody followed you home.

Also, aren't M.C.'s parents both dead? Or is it just her mother?

How about yourself and DH? Any chance you could be getting visited by relatives who have passed on?

Way back when I was a teenager, my mom took me to a very famous psychic in Santa Barbara for my 19th birthday. The guy had worked with Edgar Cayce for years. Anyway, during the reading, he told me that I had a spirit guide standing behind my shoulder, and that he was an ancestor of mine. He proceeded to draw a picture of the man, which I still have.

A few years ago, I got heavily involved in genealogy research. And along the way, I was able to obtain very old photographs of ancestors going back to the middle 1800's. When I looked at a wedding photograph of my great grandparents, the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Because there staring back at me was the same guy that the psychic had drawn. It was my great grandfather down to a tee. And I swear that while I was holding the photograph, I suddenly felt a hand softly placed on my shoulder, and a gentle breeze stirred thru the room.

I think a lot happens on the "other side" that we're just not aware of. Hang in there. If it gets too scary, be sure to tell him to please quit frightening you. I know that sounds kind of corney, but it works.
