OT-heath question about DD

Ok....I am really starting to get concerned about my 9 month old DD's health. Diabetes runs in her family and there have been some changes that are starting to make me wonder. We have a Dr's appointment on Monday but of course I can't wait that long and would like some input/prayers/experiences.....

Lately Lily has been peeing through her diaper with in a couple hours. She used to have 5-7 wet diapers a day now it is more like 10-12 and they are soaked through. Overnight I get up to change her twice and even then she sometimes pees through her sleeper and I have to change her sheets and mattress pad. She is much thirstier and demands a bottle every 1.5 hours. She doesn't even need formula she will chug a sippy or a bottle with water in under 2 minutes. Her attitude has also changed. She used to go with the flow and never really fussed. Now she gets up crying a couple times a night and is very clingy. I can rarely put her down during the day. Also, she is just much more fussy than she ever was. And the cry is different....I can't quite explain it but it's not an "i'm hungry", "i'm tired", "i want mama" cry. She doesn't seem like she is in pain it just isn't right. Also, her face gets flushed a lot. I check her temp every time it happens and she never has a fever or anything. She is also sweating a lot at night.

Has anyone here had a child diagnosed with juvenile diabetes? Has anyone heard these types of symptoms before? PM me if you don't want to share publicly. Thanks so much in advance for your input!!

Joshie did all that too and the pedi tested him (drew blood) since diabetes runs in his bmom's family too. The tests were negative, thankfully...he still pees through things and swigs a ton of fluids. My older bio son did the same thing though too and he was also tested for diabetes and was negative.

Blessings, Michelle

My son went through a phase like this that lasted a month or two when he was around 19 months. It stopped.

Hopefully it will end up being nothing.

My father had diabetes. My MIL works with diabetic children (has for a couple of decades). A good friend of mine just had her son diagnosed with diabetes (he was about a year at the time). I'm NOT a medical expert. I can definitely see why you're concerned. Those symptoms strike a chord with me. It's so simple to do a blood sugar test. Honestly, if it were me I wouldn't wait around worrying until Monday. I'd go to urgent care.

Just in case it does turn out to be something . . . I will tell you that there is absolutely incredible technology, medication, and insulin available now for treating diabetes. It was a rocky first few months for my friend which is typical as their son's production of his own insulin slowed and then stopped. But it's about 8 months after his diagnosis now and he's doing very well. Really, it's a pain in the behind but VERY controllable!!!

Best Wishes . . . .

Thanks! Maybe it's just a phase or growth spurt or something. We are going to the doctor tomorrow so hopefully we will know more then.
