Help WET WET Cold and Terrible Cough!

Is there ANYTHING I can do for DS? He's been coughing in his crib for an hour. His nose is running like crazy. He's not at the stage where he's congested, it's just running and I guess the post nasal drip is making him cough.

I just have no idea how to help him. He sounds AWFUL and the cough is keeping him awake.

Oh noooo! Poor E!!

Can you do the saline mist and nose sucker? That helps our son Luke so much!!!

I have a friend (a nurse with 6 kids) who swears by Baby Vicks on the soles of their feet (w/ socks)...I tried and it DID work.

Even better if you have zipper pjs with feet so he can't get to the vicks. (My niece is really into her feet now, pulling off the socks and searching for toe fuzzies and all!! She's about E's age. I would imagine if we put alot of time and stuff into her feet she'd be ripping those socks right off and have her hands full of vicks in 4 investigative seconds!) Hope he feels better super quick

I was going to suggest Vicks on the feet as well. Not only will it help a cough, it makes your feet so soft and smooth. OK, so baby E's feet are soft already, but mine can always use alittle help!

I hope he gets to feeling better soon. Bless his heart.

We went to Walgreens and got one of those "Vicks Vaporizer" machines - sorry, can't remember what they're called.
Anyway, they're only $15 and then you buy this Vicks (or Walgreens brand, which is what we got) liquid vaporizer stuff. Put a tsp of that in with water, then turn it on, and it turns to steam that smells like Vicks.

It seems to help, and it smells pleasant, too.
(I love the smell of Vicks. Reminds me of being babied by Mom as a child...)

Hope baby feels better soon.

Thanks guys. DH took E to the doctor today. It was a terrible night. He always coughs but not like this! When he woke up this morning is face was covered with....gosh i don't know! a combo of things really but he looked TERRIBLE. i was sure he had an ear infection but it's really just a bad cold (ears and lungs clear) Thank Goodness! So it will just be a matter of waiting it out.

Oh and the doc seeing how bad a cold it was said a tsp. of benadryl just before bed and I think (in addition to the vicks) I'm going to do that. Maybe get the machine as well. he needs ALL the help he can get.

I was going to mention benedryl if it was really bad. We sometimes do all - humidifier, Vicks and benedryl. Bring in the reinforcements!

Hope E feels better soon and can get some good rest (which is one of the hardest parts about having a little who is sick and can't sleep...and you know how much he needs it!)

Hee hee...I am glad I could make you chuckle. It is from Bill Cosby many, many years ago. You'd have to Google it, but my parents used it when we were little. It's so appropriate though!
