DH wants to get a tattoo after Baby A's adoption is finalized. He wants something with the kids names or initials incorporate in it.. And it will need to be able to have more names added if we adopt more children. (or a miracle happens and I get pregant
) Any advice on what would look good. He is wanting it on his upper arm.If I can get up enough nerve I would like to get one too. (only after he goes first ) |

My ex had a heart with his girls initials around it. ARL over the top, MSL along the left side and SKL along the right side.
My best friend has an ankle braclet of ivy on each ankle with her boys names weaved in the ivy. A older woman at my Church has a tiny ladybug on her forearm representing each of her grandkids. I have thought of getting something to represent my son, but I haven't really come up with anything. It would be my third tattoo. It really isn't that bad - go for it. I recently really started Bible study and God said that we should not tattoo our bodies in Exodus or Numbers, I don't remember which. I think this is another reason I'm dragging my feet. I don't mean to preach, just thinking out loud on my own recent reluctence for another tat. |

I have a huge one for Kix on my lower leg but it cannot be added to, other kids will have thier own total piece. Mine is a lion cub because she is a leo, it has her birth flowers, her name and birthdate and her footprints. I am going to add her finalization date underneath it all.
DH is getting a portrait I took of her on his chest, it's her looking up and laughing, she has angel wings on and a purple bow in her hair. |

Well, mine are kinda girlie
I have a band around my ankle with my first (bio) son's name, a small Hibiscus flower on my lower back/hip with the petroglyph mother and child inside (after my first one I was dying to gt another!) and I just got (after we finalized) a more elaborate one on the back of my neck/upper back of a Hamsa hand (good luck and keeping the evil eye away) that incorporates a lot of symbolism that is meaningful to me. The Koi fish represent good luck, longevity, etc. and in each of their tales I got my newly adopted kid's initials ("E" and "S"), the writing in the middle is sanskrit for "mother".Tattoos are so personal. I would recommend finding a good tattoo artist, researching what you (or DH) wants, and then take pictures to the tattoo artist and have him/her then design you something that is totally unique to you. I came up with the idea for my ankle one and then my friend who is the tattoo artist drew it up from my idea and I LOVE it! Same with my Hibiscus ione. The Hamsa hand I saw something kind of similar on Miami Ink and then researched and found an even better one online on a tattoo artist's website. I took the pic to my friend who then changed and added what I wanted and it was a thousand times better than anything else I had seen and completely unique to me! Good luck!

Prior to placement of Devin, I wanted to get the adoption symbol. However, after his placement, I decided and got "family" in Chinese characters on the back of my neck. I felt that this represented our newly formed family, our son's birth family, and any other future children we may have.

DH wants DD's handprint on his shoulder. He's already got a tribal band around his upper arm and we sort of have a one tattoo rule.
So far I haven't bent and allowed the handprint. |

I have been thinking about a small one with DD's name or face. My SIL had her ankle band changed to a baby sitting in a batch of ivy and the artist was able to replicate her son's face on the baby.
Now what is she going to do now that she has twins??? |

Which is why I'm not allowing the handprint tattoo. DH would have to get one for each kid and what if something crazy happened and we brought home triplets or something? Can you imagine? Uh-uh. |

No, I can't imagine. I think that and the fact that DH can't really get one and he is threatening if I get one he will too is what is stopping me till I know we are done.

This Christmas, instead of exchanging gifts with our kids first mom, we (dh, me, first mom) are all getting the same tattoo - a symbol of adoption.

I gave my husband a tattoo for Christmas last year. His is of the American, Guatemalan and Korean flags--to symbolize the birth countries of our three children.
If I had the guts, I'd get one too. Maybe one day... Carolyn

Thanks Storm and DDW
I LOVE them! I was really anti tattoo for a long time until I started to realize how much beautiful work (art!) is being done -especially here in Hawai'i. I thought for a very long time before getting my first one; what would I be OK having on my body for the rest of my life? Well... my son's name, that is for sure and plumeria flowers (they say "Hawai'i" for me more than any other) and so... voila! It is a little addicting I wanted another one SO much after my first one and got the Hibiscus just a few months later. The hand I waited a few years to get and I am SO happy with it. I just had it done this past May and I get SO many compliments! Because of the heat I wear my hair up a lot, so it is visible (but I also like how if I wear my hair down no one can see it) and people comment on it all the time. I am also extremely lucky as a family friend is a very well known tattoo artist and he charges me only a fraction of what it would normally cost.If I keep adopting kids I will keep getting their names or initials tattooed somewhere I don't see it being a problem! I want to get the Hawaiian Island chain next... maybe around my other ankle... So bring on my next baby so I have another name to put with it! LOL

No answers as to what to get - but I say go for it, girl! I have butterflies on my feet from my miscarriages, my grandmother's cameo on my shoulder as a rememberance of her, and I'm trying to figure out what to do for Anya now. Originally I wanted to do her footprints, but the hospital didn't do any! :P
So now I'm trying to figure out too! When I got my others, I honestly just started digging through tattoo images on the net. When you figure out kind of what you want, I can recommend a good artist here in JB. I've seen a bunch of her work and love it all!
