I have a small heart on my hip with my son's initials. When my adoption for my FS finalizes next year I'll get a heart next to it with his initials. Hopefully I don't have 15 kids or I'll end up with a leg of hearts.

I have a shamrock on my lowerish/middle right back that is a shamrock, I'd like to get Tylers feet or name or both, near it. Need to find someone to design something so they work together. DH think it will be expensive to start adding stuff for each kid, cause I want a lot of kids...who cares? No one sees that part of my back but me anyway!

No suggestions...I have all three of my kid names on me and one tribal tattoo. My last one with my son's name pretty open looking so I will be able to add another boy's name in the future!

Does is hurt really bad? DH is not worried about it but I am. I HATE needles. I swear the nurse has to chase me around the table just to give me an allergy shot.
If I ever get the nerve up I would like three small hearts or roses with the kids names.

I have a peanut with a pink ribbon on it. We call our DD peanut, a nickname from birth that stuck.

I guess it depends on your pain threshold, how big the piece is and where you get it. My ankle one HURT, especially on the outside. It is very close to the bone and not much of a pad of fat there to cushion it But it was not unbearable. I was able to read a book and chat while it was being done The one on my lower back/hip was pretty breezy (lots of cushion there! :P). The one on my neck wasn't too bad, except when he was coloring in the sanskrit writing, where it is solid and kinda close to the bones in my spine. I'm always more worried before he starts and then when it actually starts it is not that bad.

My shoulder actually hurt more than the top of my foot - because they used a very fine tipped needle for a lot of detail work that overlapped with areas they had just finished that were sore. The first few minutes are a little rough, but after that you kind of tune it out. It's not an excruciating pain - more of an annoyance. I actually dread blood draws and IV's FAR WORSE than getting my tattoos...

Plus it's interesting to watch them as they come together on you

Tell you what - when we get through our finalizations, we can go together and I'll prop you up

That is cool to see all the folks with tats. I have been thinking of getting one, my plan was to get it for DS's first birthday, but I haven't done it yet. I want to get the chinese zodiac symbol for his year of birth (year of the pig) this is also the same year that we finalized his adoption. I found a pattern that I really like.

But DH is very very anti tatoo, and I think that is a major factor holding me back from doing it. But I have been thinking about it a lot lately.

I think we have came up with what DH is going to get. He wants a tree with a heart with my initals in it ( like it had been carved into the tree). A full moon behind the tree (just because he loves to go outside during a full moon.) And three stars representing our kids.Plenty of room to add stars if we adopt more children.( we would LOVE to adopt a biracial baby girl( hint ,hint ).

I will wait to decide if I get one after I watch him get his. I might just stick wih wearing my family tree birthstone necklace I ordered.

mrskt- Pictures with Santa went great.

Yes. Bad. I have cried with every single one. My threshold for pain is pretty low apparently However, it is SO worth it! I have 3 and definitely will be getting more.

I want a heart for both my sons on each hip-bone. Then I want 2 Precious Moments angels somewhere (I haven't decided where yet) for the twins I miscarried.

My dh has 3 tats...2 of them with his first and second wife's names (and they are both deceased) and since they are deceased I have forbidden him to get my name tatooed on him, LOL. I really want him to get either an eagle or a wolf on his back and put both our kids' initials in it somewhere.

Although he has 3 already and plans to get more, he is not happy about me getting even one...I have no idea why; he won't even discuss it with me!

Blessings, Michelle

I have 4 tattoos total. A bracelet around my left wrist, it did not really hurt, just annoyed me while being done. My back which hurt REALLY bad and did for days, I had to walk around like a teenage hooch with my pants unbuttoned and tucked in so it would not touch it. Felt like the worst burn I'd ever had in my life. My hip and calf actually kind of tickled. So many other things hurt way worse then a tattoo and they don't last forever, a tattoo is momentary pain for art that lasts a lifetime.

My first one is a small seagull flything through the sunset. My bst friend and I got the same thing - to symbolize our lifelong friendship crap. It is on my shoulder. She kept asking me if I was going to be ok and I kept saying It depends. Finally after the 4th or 5th time she asked depends on what? I told her whether they were almost done or not. If it was 1/2 done, I'd be fine, if it was going to take a lot longer, I might not be so fine! It really wasn't that bad at all. It has always looked great! I actually had a sunburn at the time and that tattoo has always looked as if I always had it. It never swelled, never scabbed, nothing.

The second one is a bouquet of 4 shamrocks on my upper thigh. This was hand drawn onto my skin and then tattooed. With a new 'gun' or what ever they call it. The needle was dragging in the beginning. So the outline on one of my shamrocks is a little heavy. I'm the only one who would notice. This hurt a little more, but still it wasn't that bad. The anticipation was worse.

I am a needle phobic. I have had to wait around in dr.'s office after an injection to be sure I don't pass out! My mom always asks me how I could have gotten tattooed with this phobia - I didn't watch! I can't watch!

For my shoulder, I could have watched in a mirror, but turned my head the other way, I was laying on my belly. For my thigh, I was laying flat on my back.
