Sleeping Issues

Hello ladies (and gents!)! I need some help. Has anyone had problems where their little ones used to sleep through the night fine and that started going backwards?! Our little one has always slept through the night without a problem, since about 3 months old. He would wake up, take his bottle, and back to bed. Once we stopped the bottle he did the same thing with a sippy cup of milk....wake up around 5 am, drink it, back to bed. Only now he's getting up earlier and earlier and will not go back to sleep in his crib. He wants to be rocked and if you do that he sleeps just fine. I am a believer of CIO but it's lasting for quite a while so not sure what else to try. I KNOW there's nothing wrong with him though b/c he's fine if I hold him (after he calms down of course) so I'm not neglecting him or anything. I give him milk and stuff when he wakes up. I just can't figure out what's going on.

How old is he? It is really common for this to happen when they are on the verge of a major milestone like walking or something like that. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it! "They" say that the child should go back to his regular schedule after hitting the milestone, but I don't know what would help until then (if that is what is going on). to you!

He's between 1 and 2. I can't think of a major milestone b/c he's already walking and stuff but who knows. I hope it passes soon!

Our DD is doing that now too. She was never a cuddler and now will only go to sleep if I rock her or cuddle with her. We co-sleep but she has always had her own spot blocked off on the bed, not sleeping on top of us. Now she has to cuddle to get to sleep.

She is the same age 1-2. My personal thinking is that she is going through so many changes and learning so many things right now she needs the extra attention. Yes, the lack of sleep stinks but it won't last forever.

Talking, climbing, those are both major milestones. Cutting molars can do it too.

Oh my Big C is TOO!! He is almost 2 & it's driving me insane. I try to have him CIO in intervals but he gets up from his toddler bed & bangs on the door then wakes up little C. The other night finally my dh pinned me down & MADE me not go in there, after 30 min he finally went to sleep & astonishingly he went pretty much right to bed & slept through the night last night so maybe that will help.

It's horrible right now, I'm thinking it's potty training maybe? He pee'd on the potty 4 times on Thanksgiving (YAY!) but by his choice, and has been VERY VERY hit & miss since. They also might be on the verge of independence yet still need thier mommy / daddy?

Who knows...it's driving me CRAZY though.

OMG, I could have written this post. The best thing for me though has been a supporter on the forum encouraging me to just let DD cry. She stayed up for over 2 hours one night with me laying on the twin bed in her room waiting for her to fall asleep and she did all she could for those two hours hoping I would give up and take her to bed.

For me, luckily she was exhausted only getting 8 hours sleep from tues to wed and then only one 1 1/2 hour nap yesterday so she made it though the night last night. We also started letting her cry herself to sleep at the start of the night and not rocking her to sleep. She is almost 21 months old and it is killing me not to hold her till she sleeps. But....Like a great friend said....she needs her sleep and I have to remember it is about her and not me.

I'm a walking zombie at the moment, because DD is teething and has been having a horrible time of it at night. She wakes up twice or thrice at night (2 am, 4 am..), and just wails. Nothing short of an hour of cuddling and maybe a bottle gets her back to sleep. So I feel.....your....pain....zzzzzzzzzzz

The last two night 3-4 times a night Tyler lets forth a blood curdling scream, and by the time I get to his crib, he's sleeping again. By the time I calm down and settle in I get about an hours sleep before he does it again. No freaking idea what is up with that...

Maybe instead of reading and posting we should all be napping, ha! I think my boss might frown on that a little bit but don't think I wasn't almost falling asleep while sitting upright today!
