Great Gift/Toy For 11 Month Old?

Does anyone have Christmas gift ideas for an 11 month old? I can think of lots of smaller type toys but would like to get him one really nice gift for Christmas. He likes the talking Elmo so we're thinking about that, but I'm wondering if he'll get bored with it after a while. Also, I want to get him something he'll be able to use right away as opposed to something he's not yet old enough to use. I'll appreciate any ideas! Thanks!

Wisdom TOUGH age for toys. Can I make a suggestion? Check out BabyPlays - BabyPlays.com - Online Toy Rental Program

A subscription is aroun 25.00-35.00 a month depending on the plan and if your child loves a toy you can keep it and pay wholesale. It's so hard at this age to know what they are ready for and what they will like. The toys come like new, shrink wrapped and sterilized and it works just like Netflix (you do a wish list). They have almost all the new cool toys. We do it and we love it!

Another idea is a pop up crawl tunnel. Or a blow up bouncy castle (he's too young to jump obviously but we fill ours with small colorful balls). Good luck!

I got the stack and roll cups for Ty for Christmas. Someone on here suggested them, and I knew as soon as I saw them, he would love them for the next few years....

Amazon.com: Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Stack & Roll Cups: Toys & Games

I got the pastel set (even though I wanted the bright set) because they were on sale at Kohls for $6!!!

For Ty's larger toy we got him one of these...
Amazon.com: RockAbye Rocking Sandy Snail: Toys & Games

I nannied for a littl girl who was born in Dec, and got this for her 2nd Christmas (when she was 12 months) and she used it for about a year or more. Her older brother and sister (2 and 5) used it too...We didn't pay that much for it thought...Found one at Kmart for $20, but I WAS debating spending the $80... They are really nice

Both of my little ones loved activity tables, especially the type you can flip over & have legos on one side & noisy toys on the other. I picked up a cute one for $18 on clearance at Target (Chicco Brand)!!

I bought one of these for my niece second hand when she was about this age. She loved it! Loved to take the top off and sit in it. She was a sitting kind of kid though. Loved nothing better than to find small things to sit on. Her favorite was a box of detergent. She cried when I had to open it and use it so it moved to the laundry room

My guy at that age loved activity tables. Especially the Leap Frog one, we never had it, but g'parents did. Fisher Price Piano (sort of activity table) and the Fisher Price stage with the mirror and microphone were faves at our house. (and still are at 27 months!)

Take a look at the busy ball popper:
Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper : Target
My son loves it even now at 3 and I've talked to other parents who's kids love it. It does make noise, but it entertains him for long periods of time.

These are all great gift ideas. We really didn't know what to get but now have several ideas. I hadn't thought about a rocking toy. I'm sure DS would love that. At the park, there's something similar to the rocking snail and I put him on and he likes it. The activity table would be great because he loves standing more than sitting right now.
Stormster, I'd never thought about renting toys. It makes sense because I've bought some things he rarely plays with but the receipt and package are long gone so I can't return them.

Both of these have been popular at our house also.

And my other idea is a wagon. I get a ton of use out of ours. My boys love riding in it. And those get years and years of use. My 3 and 5 year old nieces still love the wagon.
