How young is too young for skiing?

We are thinking of going to Breckenridge in January. I really think our son Sam would do great on skis. His brother might have more fun playing in the snow.

How young is too young for a ski trip??

Many thanks!!

Not sure how old yours are - I'm taking my 3 and 10 year old this year.

I thought about taking the 3 year old (then 2) last year but never did it.

My plan is to put them both in half day lessons (the 3 year old would be a little lesson and day care thing) and then spend the other half of the day with them on the bunny slopes.

The second day I'll probably take my 10 year old out with me and put the 3 year old in half day again...

That's the tenative plan at least

I started skiing at like 6 I think, maybe 5.

Can he roller skate or ice skate? If he's okay doing those activities, he would probably be fine on skis. Most ski resorts have beginner lessons for little kids.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

I think a lot of the ski lesson programs start at age 3. If you aren't doing lessons and just want the fun experience, you might consider calling Breck and finding out if they'll allow you to take a 2 year old up on the lift to ski with you. It really is a preference imo, since a lot of folks who ski are in the "if they can walk, they can ski" frame of mind and others are more inclined to advise waiting til age 4. Every kid is different though.

If skiing isn't an option, Breckenridge is still a great place to go. There are a ton of activities to do and they'll still get a great snow experience and fun!

Thanks, guys!!

They are 2 and 2.5.

We love Breckenridge, so I think we'd have a ball whether we skiied or not.

If your children can't ski with you then tubing could be a better alternative

Awesome suggestion, Sohmakun!

DH is the skier. So he would be able to hit the black diamonds. I would stay with the kiddos for most of the time - doing what they want.

And my parents would be going as well...

I just have to jump in and say that I learned to ski at Breckenridge! :-)
I think I was around 4.
We are talking about taking our 5 year son old this year.
