The next time someone with bio kids makes that comment say "Wow! I hope whoever raises your children if something happens to you and your husband/wife doesn't feel that way!"

We were visiting DH's family at Thanksgiving. A friend of my MIL commented how much DS looks like DH. The comment that followed was "He looks so much like (DH) that I forget that he was bought and not biological"

I was so shocked at the comment I couldn't even respond. Probably best that I didn't, because it might not have been pretty.

We get this one from time to time, mostly from people who found out about the adoption second hand. Coworkers, family friends, nurses, etc. The first few times I was shocked too. Now I come back with something like, "yeah, because who'd want to keep an ugly kid anyway? Lucky for us DD wasn't so cute when she was born, huh?"
The last nurse I said that to left the room and we never saw her again. DH almost swallowed his tongue he was so surprised.

Beauty: I would've smacked the crazy old lady. My Uncle is bad enough and he does really love DD and generally is great except for the continued "Our own" references. I don't know what I'd do if he did something like that. Have to pick my jaw up off the floor for starters.
