Might I suggest this as well?

Consider also checking in with a chiropractor? Lots of people have problems with GERD because their back is out of alignment. I know...sounds ridiculous....but we've BTDT...and we've also had our very tiny babies adjusted. Just gotta know who to go to.

Further, there are very good massage classes for babies out there. It was one of the better things I ever did---to take those 4 or 6week classes to know which strokes were best for what.

Just two suggestions to accompany those that have already been made.

Sincerely,

Linny

Have I ever told you my mom is an infant feeding specialist? She rocks! She works at a rehab hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Let me know if you are ever confused and I can PM you her e-mail. She would LOVE to answer any questions you can't get your OT to answer!!!!

My bio son was a reflux baby. We started on Zantac and then eventually switched to Prevacid. What a difference!! Prevacis was a wonder drug for us. We also let him sleep in a bouncer for the first few months and then elevated the head of his crib. He went off Prevacid at a year. He was breastfed until recently so we just now discovered that he is also lactose intolerant. I wonder if it is related??!!??!!

Re: gripe water

We never tried Colic Calm - Baby's Bliss is our preferred brand b/c it doesn't have to be kept refridgerated. I bought it at Walgreens.

About a year ago, Baby Bliss Gripe Water was recalled because certain batches were contaminated with Cryptosporidium parvum, an aquatic parasite. It is being sold again, so the problem was resolved, I assume.

That's scary!!

Has anyone ever heard of giving Gaviscon for breakthrough reflux and pain? We were told by GI doc to give her 1cc after feeding if needed? I know in the UK they have infant gaviscon, but he said the OTC is used here.

sbaglio - I was aware of the previous problem - we haven't had any issues with the batches we've had though... I've watched carefully!

OP - I have heard of using Gaviscon, but we were told to use Cherry Supreme Mylanta .1-.2 ml as needed for breakthrough. Our DR preferred it because it didn't have aluminum in it, which is a heavy metal that has been discussed in relation to developmental disorders... DD loves it - I've found it at Target - you specifically want the Cherry SUPREME Mylanta, not the ultimate, as the ultimate still has the aluminum. There's also a orange flavored cream in a tube at Walmart - I forget the name, it's in the same section - it doesn't have aluminum...
