How long was your wait? :)

Hi Everyone!

I am pretty new here, having only posted a few comments. Dh and I are in the dreaded waiting stages, as so many of you are now, or have already been through. I was hoping we could start a thread where everyone could put down how long their wait was? Being from the time of HS approval until you were chosen, or the time of placement? I know each situation is different, of course, but I'm just curious what your stories are!
Thank you all!

As you can see with our timeline, we've been waiting almost 16 1/2 months (13 1/2 years total ttc and adoption), still no baby.

With our oldest, who is now 10, we waited 6 weeks from the time we were approved until chosen. With our second, who is now 7, we waited 7 months and with our baby, he is 16 months and was placed through foster care we waited 6 months. The wait is hard, but I promise once you are placed you won't remember it at all!!! Good luck!

Heart

We did things a litle out of order, our total wait was around 10 months. From HS approval though, less than 3 till our son was born.

We are doing fost/adopt. But were with an infant agency first. After 2 years with them and no placements we swtiched to fost/adopt. We waited 6 months for our sib set of 3 and were not even waiting when we got a call for their younger brother who we are now transitioning.

We waited exactly 9 mos. from the day our homestudy cleared until our son was in our arms and 27 mos. for our littlest daughter. The first time we already had one dd and the second time we had two children (obviously), our dd and ds. susan

6 weeks from HS approval to placement for our son.

We're at 4 1/2 months waiting for our new addition...and the rollercoaster ride continues.

For our first adoption, 9 months from signing up to bringing home our son. For our second, 5 1/2 long excruitiating years. Both were using the same out of state agency, both were open adoptions. Good luck, my children were woth the wait.

I think it was about 7 months to our match and 1 year until he was born.

We did not have to do a HS...it's not required in our state if you're doing an independent adoption and DD's birth mom didn't feel it necessary.
From our first meeting with the adoption attorney it was 2 weeks until we came in contact with DD's birth mom and 5 months later DD was born!

5 1/2 weeks from HS completetion to match/birth/baby in arms. Over all it was 4 months from start of HS till we had Tyler with us. Only 6 months from the very point when we started seriously thinking about adoption till we were parents. Start of the process to finalization was 13 1/2 months.
