Well, at 6 months mine mostly played with rattles, teethers, small toys, soft books still. Most of the toys that are 6 months+ didn't get their attention until 7-8 months really. And even now they're still more interested in teethers than the other toys they have (they love the Sassy stuff). Go figure!

If you want to look a bit ahead though, they like the amazing animals choo choo train from fisher price and activity tables, even if they still haven't quite 'got it' yet.

Just about any toy that lights up or makes noise was always a winner in our house!

BTW, we have the sing along stage...bought it when DD was 6 months old...and I'll tell ya, that toy only gets better as they get older! DD absolutely LOVES hers!

Should be ready for an exersaucer (though I know those are controversial!)

Fisher Price Aquarium DS STILL plays with it and he's 15 months and has already had for a year!

Fisher Price Leap Frog Table (take off the legs for now and place right on the floor, it will grow as baby learns to cruise)

He has the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders thing that hangs on the crib. Is it the same thing you were talking about

My DS loves loves loves to play with toys (and we have a lot) Here are some of the ones I'd recommend as toys to use now but be able to grow into, as well:

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn House. DS loves this toy and probably plays with it the most. It's a good grow with me type of toy since a 6 month old can play with it with you, and use it as they grow.

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Musical Activity Table. Again, great to use without legs (or just two to prop up)

Fisher Price Crawl and Cruise Musical Jungle. it's so freaking cute, and DS loves his.

He is the happiest little boy and he loves to play on the floor with his toys. He has ever since he could sit up. It's the funniest thing to watch some days.

E doesn't like the Skwish never did, nor does he like his Whoozit much! I was so disappointed as I LOVE the look of Manhattan Toys!

Yes that' the same Aquarium! We have to change the batteries VERY regularly and have taken the Ipod back as he favors that for his lullabyes!

I hope you like the Sing Along Stage - my kids got a lot of use out of ours. We also got a ton of use out of the jumperoo (the johnny jump-up wouldn't actually attach to most of our doorways so it didn't work for us).

What about a wagon? Those are fun to ride in. Great for walks or little outings to the park or whatever. I can pile so much more stuff in the wagon than the stroller. And you may end up using it for years to come. I actually use mine now instead of my stroller for most things.
