how much did adoption cost you?

I'm just looking for rough numbers for domestic adoptions. I thought we could do it for $30,000, but our first opportunity looks like it will actually cost $45,000 with travel, legal fees, and post placement costs. I'm so excited to have an opportunity to adopt, but this seems like a lot more than we anticipated. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!

We did a private domestic adoption and only used an attorney for legel stuff and court. Our total cost including homestudy was just under $6000, all of which we got back in the same year our daughter was born on our taxes!

We also did a private, domestic adoption and paid just under 6,000. We did not know DD's birth mom when we decided to adopt.

We are doing a domestic adoption through our adoption attorney. The total cost will be $6,0000. She has already placed 6 infants this year which is 2X any agency I've talked to and half the price.

By the time all was said and done with travel, post-placement, etc., ours was around $18-19k. Ours was a private domestic agency adoption

Including everything from dog sitters to overnight mailing, 2 attnys and 3 agencies, 10 days of travel etc...22K and counting. The attny is MO was wonderful but her little bills for $200-$300 seem to keep flowing in...

We got 3K back from DH company, and we'll get the 11K+ in the tax credit (if we ever get to finalize!!!)...We have it down to under 18K already and we'll pay off the rest over the next 2 years or so. He's worth it...look at my avatar...he totally knows it too

Private domestic adoption cost us 16K and counting. It would have been less but DSS took custody after birth due to the drug exposure and we ha to fight in court to get our little lady home. The lawyer fees for court time really add up.
