3 month post placement.
Hello everyone. My husband and I brought our son home. He is 2 weeks old. We were there for the birth, roomed with him at the hospital and took him home 48 hours later. Got the call that parents rights were terminated and we have full custody.
My question is what is the point of the 3 month post placement? What happens during that? I know we have to do that before the adoption is finalized through the courts. Can someone explain to us what we should expect? Ours won't happen until January Until then we are THRILLED and loving EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of being parents to our sweet, sweet baby boy ![]() |

Congrats!
It was easy for us (we had four visits). Just questions about how they are eating, what they're doing, their weights etc, if they've been sick and things like that. |

We had one post placement visit, but it was more like 2 months post placement. But like Fran said, they asked questions about dr's appointments weight gain, immunizations, how much he was eating, what we were feeding him. That sort of thing. Pretty straight forward really.

thanks ladies. I assumed that is all it was. Out little guy has been wonderful to have but we have had some hurdles as far as a good forumla for him. We finally found one that is working WONDERS for him. Poor lil'guy was misreble with the one the hospital gave/fed him.
Thanks everyone! |

Has anyone done a 3 month post placement visit in WA state? Just looking to see if there is more involved.
LOL I am a little nuts about it all. Just so excited to be a new mommy. Our son is just the light of our lives. Our older kids are SO, so so so so in love with him. My husband just floats when he walks with him and OMG, me I am so in love with him too. I just love him and I just love that my family is so in love with him too! Adoption has been this AMAZING process! |

Nicole - We are in WA state. We have to have 6 post placements, about 1 month apart each. It's the birth state that dictates how many post placements you have to have. Our worker comes every month, spends about an hour in our home (we do have two kids, so she has to write and talk about each of them) and talks with us a little. She asks us how we're doing, how we're transitioning, offers support, etc. No big deal at all.

I am in WA state too, and as I mentioned in my previous post, we had one post placement visit. Our SW was actually like an hour late (which was kind of frustrating, we were left wondering if he would show up) for the visit, and it was very informal, questions about feeding, dr's visits, immunizations, etc.

In GA you have to have 2 post placement visits. However, one of them has to be within 90 days of finalization. We will end up having a third visit because 90 will pass since the last one, and we still have no finalization date.
Like the others said, the SW will just ask a bunch of questions about how are you, baby and family are adjusting. They will ask about doctor visits. Ours wanted to see the babies room. They will then write a report to submit to the courts for your finalization.

We live in WA state as well.....we had 3 post placement visits. They weren't a big deal they were more about how DD was doing. DD had formula problems as well. She ended up on soy formula.....apparently she has a really touchy tummy. Our visits were very informal and we visited and talked to our SW from the agency and she held DD and played with her. It was very nice actually. I am sure she noted all of the information we gave her but it didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

Well we make our 3 month post placement appt in January. I am nervous. There is NO reason for us to be nervous. Our son is SO loved and SO well cared for. Our two older kiddos are IN LOVE with him and so are we. I just am a nervous wreck.

We had to have 3 (or 4?) post placement visits which were basically to know that we and baby were adjusting well. Congratulations!
