OT- Toddler control issues
OK, I think I just posted somewhere that I love this 2-3yo age. However... I currently have a dilema. DS #1 is very controlling about were he sleeps. Wants to sleep in mom's bed or the couch or anywhere besides his bed. Lately he has been sleeping on the couch in DD's room. I have been letting him... because it seemed harmless and he went right to sleep without much fuss. The problem is that now DS #2 seems upset that big brother is not in his room. DS #2 has also just started climbing out of his crib. So you guessed it. DS #1 goes to bed in the other room, DS #2 screams, cries, and gets out of his crib. IF I make DS #1 sleep in his room, DS #2 stays in bed and DS #1 screams and cries. I'm not sure what to do. Another part of the problem is that DH works evenings several nights a week. So, I come home from work tired and I just dont' have it in me to fight with them about bed time. We have our routine, which I stick to, but I am still at a loss.
Tonight they both ended up in DD's room. #1 on the couch, #2 in her crib. Any suggestions???

I have a 3.5 yo ds, and for the past six months or more, he's refused to sleep in his bed. He prefers the floor, btwn the bed and wall
Apparently, monsters *know* that boys sleep in beds, you see, so that's where they go for their monster midnight munchies. So, we let him. No biggie. Then, he started wanting to sleep in our room. He was sick for a few days, so that's how it started...and then he wanted it to be every night. I'm a big mean mommy and insist that he sleeps in his own room. Floor, bed, even his Godzilla tent if he wants, but has to be in his own room.Does your guy say why he doesn't want to sleep in his own room? Is there something he's afraid of?

Well first off my boys have about the same age gap as yours but are younger. So I'm really thrilled to hear you say you love their age now. Maybe I shouldn't be so worried about mine then!
LOLAre both of your boys still in cribs? What about getting them really cool big boy beds? Or even just some new special sheets - "made specially for big boys who sleep in their room". ![]() What about just moving everybody's bed/crib into the same room for a while? Then using the other bedroom for the playroom. My nephew/neices did that for a while and it wasn't long before one and then another got tired of it and they were all back in their original rooms. How frustrating! Best of luck!

I think this is a stage. When my brothers were about four they got their first bunkbeds. They were jazzed to say the least.
It was a big boy thing but also my Mom's idea to get them to sleep in their own beds....didn't work. They still both ended up in the top bunk. And since that's where Dad started the bedtime stories, I always ended up sleeping in the bottom bunk. (I was 6). So for about a year, we all shared one room. Definitely not what my Mom intended. But there was no harm in it and everyone was happy. Eventually I went back to my own room for my own story time and my brothers decided they wanted their own beds after all. However, if getting your little guy to sleep in his room is an absolute must, I like the idea of the tent. That would've been enough to get us to sleep just about anywhere my parents wanted. |

LOL, My guy slept on the floor for a while before he decided little sister's couch was better! I don't think he is afraid of anything in particular. He just likes to control everything and that is something that he can control.

The older one has been in his big boy bed for a while and they younger one still sleeps in his crib. He has a big boy bed in his room and we tried to make the switch with both at once, but he really needed and liked the security of his crib, so we let him stay in it. I was starting to think he was going to sleep in his crib forever. As for cool beds...they each have those cute Little Tykes car beds that look like VW bugs. I thought for sure that would be enough to get my little car lover in his bed....but no. Maybe I will try the all 3 in one room thing. They love to be near their sister. Afterall, I already have 2 big boy beds and a crib in there.

Ben still has sleep issues, he brings his sleeping bag from room to room. We don't care where he sleeps as long as it is not mom and dads room! I second what others have said put them all in the same room if that can work for you. We also have a baby gate for the foster boys, so no one can get in and out of that room. Maybe an idea for you?
