You might take a look at the "Professionals' link at the top of the page (in purple.)

Are you looking at domestic or international?

We are trying to decide on international or domestic. We have roughly 17 K to spend on an adoption. We are extremely open to any ethnicity, gender, and some substance use. The agency that was recommended by our homestudy agency has some rules I am uncomfortable with. We are trying to determine if we can do a international adoption on our budget. If we do domestic we want a low risk situation. I can't take the stress of the unknown.

Brandy I looked at the site you gave, but it goes by state. I am looking for a out of state agency. Any suggestions.

Thanks

When you are saying you are looking for an out-of-state agency, do you mean a specific state, or just another state than the one you are in? You can change the state on the link Brandy provided which is where I was referring to in my above post.

I think most international programs are going to be more than the amount you are looking at. Haiti might be a possiblity. You might check that Forum for input.

Ann07,

You can certainly adopt in the US for under $17,000 if you are open to any race. Dependant upon LOTS of factors you can adopt domestically from $10,000-$35,000. Internationally, I think that you would need a minimum of $20,000.

I had to chuckle at your comment about "low risk" and "stress of the unknown". Sorry to say this, but you should be prepared with domestic or international. It's just the process.

IF what you mean is that you aren't willing to have any "openness" with birthparents or if you are only willing to accept a situation after parental rights are terminated then you should discuss these topics with people on this forum. There are lots of people on here with various "types" of adoptions. These decisions could impact your wait times and your costs. (not always, just a heads up)

The adoption process is stressful, long, unknown, and risky. But you will be a stronger person in the end, and once your baby is safe in your arms it's 100% worth it all!!!!

Best of luck to you!

What state do you live in? I have one in mind but the laws of certain states may effect what type of agency you can choose.

So very, very true! Each program and/or country has its own risks and stresses.

I know adoption is stressful. We have been there done that. We just want to reduce the stress, such as long TPR's. We will have to adopt out of state as the state that we live has few agency's and as a two child max. They directed us to American adoption, as they place nationwide. I am looking for a nation wide adoption agency. Any suggestions?

Thanks
