Recommend your sippy cup?
Can anyone recommend their sippy cups? We use the Avent ones, but boy, they spill all over the place! I try cleaning out the valves, which works sometimes, but most of the time they keep leaking. It might just be the way that DD sucks on them, but we are also getting ready to try DS on them and would LOVE one that doesn't leak like crazy! Any recommendations? Links would be great, too.

We like these but I don't actually know if they are sippy cups or just some kind of modified bottle. They don't leak and he likes them!
Baby Bungalow I think after this we'll go to some kind of BPA free straw sipper. Would love some recommendations on that.

I loved the Nuby soft top sippy cups at first, but once DS started biting and chewing holes through them I trashed them for hard tops (this was at about 15 months old). He would not do hard tops at all in the beginning. But we are doing okay with them now. Mind you, he LOVES his bottle and we have almost completely broken this habit (at 22 months). He still shrieks for joy when he even sees a bottle now, so I have got a ways to go on that. My advice is to be flexible and experiment with a few different ones. Also consider ease of cleaning. There is always that one that is full of milk that rolls under one of the seats in the car...

I've yet to find a sippy that absolutely never leaks. But I favor the basic Playtex kind. It seems like when they do leak, they tend to leak less. They can also take a lot of abuse (like being dropped from a high chair). Seems like they sell them just about everywhere so I don't have trouble finding more when I need them. And they aren't too expensive.

Here's the link for the cup I mentioned above. Looks like the official name is the Sipster Stage 3.

We love love love the Avent Magic Trainer sippy cups. The soft tips are really nice and you can take the handles off after they get the hang of it. We bought ours at Target. It was a twin pack for 6.99.

We have a couple different ones. Playtex Sipster Stage 1, Fogoo with handles, and Nuby with and without handles. I haven't had trouble with any of them leaking.

I use the Munchkin sippy cups take and toss, and The First Years Take and toss. The first years dont drip and the Munchkin's drip maybe little drops when shaken or thrown across the room. the straw cups are good too. Just remember to put top on before putting the straw, boy that makes a really neat geiser out of the straw. They are relatively cheap too under $4.00.

We use Gerber ones -- you can buy extra tops and valves, plus they are simply built. You can throw them across the room (ahem. . . it does happen, ha) or leave them on the furniture--and they don't leak. If one hides under the seat in the car for several days and makes yogurt (hmmmm), you can soak the valve in bleach and it's all fine again. They are indescructable, almost. We have a few that were my ds' as a toddler, pretty amazing. You can buy the parts in a grocery store in our small town, also amazing. They aren't trendy and don't have a fancy name but they do change colors when a cold liquid is poured in them (which no one cares about in our family, we learned). susan

I meant to ask when i originally posted if these were the same ones you use. There are the trainer ones and then the regular ones. We have never had problems with ours leaking. Do you wash them in the dishwasher? My SIL said she ruined the valve thing by washing it on the lower rack. Maybe it warped or something. We also like the Nuby sippy cups with the soft top. I especially like these ones because they don't have a valve to take out and clean and all of that. Lily isn't extremely mobile yet so she hasn't really "tested" these cups out yet. haha. Maybe the problem with present itself after she starts throwing them around more! We have been using the Avent ones with the hard spout. It's the cup that DD had when she came from her birth mother - we just figured that it would ease the transition if she kept it. It leaks like crazy - it might be the way she sucks on it (she chug-a-lugs really hard), even when she does throw it across the room. I don't think it's a dishwasher thing - they just leak. We tried the Playtex ones this weekend and they seem to work better. I think we'll give those a go for a little while and see if they hold up.

We love the Nuby cups at our house. We have the ones with handles and the ones without. The only time anything has leaked or spilled was the time DH didn't screw the top on right.

We use the playtex regular ones - like these the best. I like the ones too that are "Mickey mouse" or other characters, they don't have anything in the lid to take out when you wash, but they do leak if you leave them on the ground for a day (because you threw it for the 1,000,000,000th time that day under the table & your mommy didn't pick it up). LOL!
I don't like the Gerber ones because the top little thing always pops out when big C (mini he-man) slams it on his tray / throws it across the house. I have a straw kind but the bottom bit of juice never gets drank & he tips the cup when he shouldn't so nothing gets to the straw to get sucked up....
