Getting the "itch" for #3
I never thought I'd be posting this. After a failed adoption and then experiencing colic with our second son, we were sure that we were done. But now I have the "itch" again. I know that we cannot 1) afford another adoption right now and 2) cannot afford another in childcare right now, but man I am feeling mentally ready.
I think we will spend the next year or so getting our finances in line and then maybe start the process again. Just needed to tell someone... thanks for reading.

LOl - welcome to the club srusse - but I am getting the "itch" badly for #4!!!!!
We also can't afford it - nor do we have enough bedrooms to accomodate one more. It would also mean a bigger vehicle. I spent part of today looking on mls for a bigger house - which we also can't afford - lol!!!! But, I also know if we decide this is what we really want - we can make it happen! Is your DH on board?

![]() I completely understand how you are feeling; however, we only have 1 right now! I have had the "itch" for at least 6 months now and my daughter is not even 1 year old yet. I love being a mommy....DH wants to wait at least 1-2 more years. Honestly, he is right (we need to save up more money), but I am always "dreaming" of more!

I've had the itch for #2 for a while. But, we're totally broke and way in debt. Logically, I know we need to wait until Cameron has his Fontan (5th open heart surgery), but I really just love being a mom. Hopefully fostering in the meantime will help.

Oh wow do I ever have the itch. So does DH. I just wrote my signiture so take a look at our journy!
We are doing infertility treatments because I was blessed once, maybe it will happen again. We are paying out of pocket for everything and I am inpatient so if it doesn't happen soon we are looking into international adoption. We would love to do a domestic, but in our state they only allow two children so we would have to travel out of state. We can only do this once so if the bparents changed there mind and we lost money we can't recover it. So international is the way to go this time around. We will try infertility treatments for 6 months and if NOTHING happens then I think we will start the process for adoption. |

I know just how you feel...I want my girl so bad......I am in the researching phase..but it will most likely be 2010 or 2011 before the adoption is complete. I am waiting so long because of the same reasons you listed above: affordability and daycare costs I may foster in the meantime though.....

I totally get where you're coming from. We're financially stretched now, not to mention our house is full. But we were still planning on starting our second adoption this time next year.
Until last week when DH shared that he'd rather try the bio route this time.....not quite sure how that's going to work out. |

Ohhhh yeahhh, I'm in your club.
For KarynB, here's my plan. I am SUCH a planner, but if I wasn't, nothing would ever get done. So, FWIW, in the next year, we hope to adopt our third child and move (already got the house picked out - it is across the street and 1 house down: almost 4000 sq. ft. with a private entrance and office for me and my clients). At some point, graduate and start practicing...but probably not before adopting #4. Then I think I will feel settled. I will have completed school and our family will be completed. And then I can start on the book(s) I plan to write. In my "spare time," of course.

We are waiting to be matched. We have two children, adopted internationally. This will be our first domestic adoption, and I am just going CRAZY with the wait.
Already, I am trying to figure out how I can convince my DH to go for #4, once we bring this one home! I LOVE kids, and if we could afford it, I would have a houseful!! |

journytolily: what caused you to adopt internationally before domestic? I am thinking of the international route.

Me too!
Itch for #3? Me too! My oldest is a Nov. 05 baby, and the second is a Dec 07 baby. I even contacted the agency and asked about current estimated wait times. I'm trying not to rush things, and enjoy having 2 right now...but once that "itch" starts it's hard to ignore. Plus, money and energy are in short supply here (not that those issues stopped us from getting our second).
Thanks for starting this thread. I thought I was nuts to start to want 3! Natalie |

LOL Karyn - I have been looking at 4- and 5-bedroom houses in the Cities (where I want to move whenever we sell our flippin' house!) all summer long! (and now all fall........) There's a 5-sib group on our state's website that I would LOVE to adopt, but it would mean a bigger car (our van only seats 7, and with the 5 sibs plus my 2 boys, there wouldn't be a seat for the driver (me)!!!) Actually, I'm a little freaked out at the thought of driving one of those huge vans - I can barely park my Ford Windstar! I'm with all of you - am REALLY itching for #3, actually #3-5...................... Eventually I want at least 5 kids. But with my current homestudy issues, I'm at a standstill. Ultimately, our house will sell ASAP, we'll move to the Cities and buy a 4-5 BR house, I'll start fostering (to adopt) again, and (in their minds) J & Q will get a new daddy! (I know, good grief! )If only money wasn't such an issue...................karma-wise, it is SOOOOOOOO wrong! Sandy

Mw too! Me too!!!
Dh and I just discussed this today. We are planning to start the classes for foster care in January. We will foster for a couple years. If a baby becomes available for adoption, great! If not, we will take a break after a couple years and do the agency thing again!!! I am actually hoping we can get approved for 2 babies, so I have the itch for #3 and #4!!!!
