OK this one really is about baby names!
We are being considered by an expectant Mom where we would adopt a newborn boy due to be born soon. Since I have been thinking that our next would be a girl and not so soon, I'm not really prepared! We want a name that stands out and is magnificent, not one that several other kids in the class have. (You may know my daughter's name is Athena.)
So we've considered several and I'd really like your input on these and any other ideas you may have.

Giovanni
Sergio
Takeo (Japanese - means strong)
Valentino
Runako (African name)
Sebastian

(We also considered and probably won't use Romeo, Apollo, Achilles, Ulysses, Orlando and Adonis).

I liked Ulysses - we thought about that with Ulee as a nickname.

I also think Valentino is good, with Val as a nice nickname.

I would add Gianni and Nico.

I would not do Sebastian... a certain red headed mermaid and the words "Under the Sea" come to mind.

I like the names ut I will just put out there that I know several Giovannis and Sebastians that are toddlers so they may not be as rare a name as you would hope for.

I would also add Tariku -- which is Ethiopian.

I like Sabastian, I Love Adonis (sounds so handsome), with a name like that he just has to be beautiful!!!(which I'm sure he will be!)

I like the name Sergio a lot. I also love Giovanni. We named our son Benicio-for the same reasons you had-we wanted something that sounded strong and unique but not totally off the wall. Good luck choosing!

Found out the other day it's a boy!!!

Sebastian and Giovanni are on our list as well- Our last name is undeniably Italian-- so yes, those 2 are my fave !!!!

I like Giovanni, Sergio and Sebastian. In case it turns out to be a girl (you just never know...) I like Gianna. I met a mom the other day and that was her little girl's name.

I like the names, I like strong names, though have to stay a little more traditional (DH)...I think if you have a list of names, he will tell you which one is right for him. It's all in the eyes
