Fundraising and Adoption Grants
Are any of you fundraising or applying for grants? Have you had any success? I would appreciate any information or suggestions you have. Thanks.

Sorry I wish that I had something, but I too am in a similar boat.... looking for any ideas about where to look or apply for any grants, or any fundraising ideas.

We had a fundraising dinner about a month ago. We (and lots of friends) presold tickets for a brisket dinner. The tickets were $10 a plate. We got a lot of the food donated, used our church's fellowship hall, so not cost there and raised about $3000! It was fun, but it took about 30 people coming along side us to help with ticket sales, cooking, serving and clean up. Our church is awesome
 We also applied for grants and received a matching grant for $3000. We sent out support letters asking friends and family to contribute and the foundation that awarded the grant matched any donations up to $3000 on our behalf. We got about $13,000 in donations and then the grant was added to the top of that! Most people want to help, they just need to know specific ways to help. If money is the thing you need, let people know and most are more than happy to be a part of bringing your child home.

06/08 - First appointment with private adoption agency 10/08 - Completed foster parent/pre-adoption classes 02/09 - Switched agencies and submitted adoption application with DHS 05/09 - Home study approved and submitted for several waiting children 06/09 - Opened home to foster care placements 06/09 - Chosen to go to committee for a sibling group of four 08/09 - Not chosen at committee 09/09 - Passed on sibling group of 2 Happy Daycare Provider to 7 children: E age 7, Big C age 6, A age 6, Little C age 3, B age 2, CJ age 1 and Baby E 10 mon Happy foster mom to 1 baby: Frank the Tank, age 8 mon (placed 6/17/09)
