Our adopted children's birth mom has posted pictures (pre adoption), and pictures after they were removed from her home and placed with us (supplied to her by a 3rd party) - the later pictures have comments that seem to indicate that the mother was there with them playing/etc, when she was really out ignoring them and doing who knows what at the time.

The thing that irritates me most about her posting the pictures is that she didn't care enough to try to do anything to keep the kids, to care for them, or follow any sort of reunion plan, provide any form of safety for them (believe me, the state asked VERY VERY little from her - just a little more than to breath and not kill the kids and she wouldn't try).... yet she wants to pretend like she's involved with them and happily playing and nurturing them. I hate thinking what perception she's building for others, and what sort of mental issues she is going through if she really believes what she posts. It makes me mad that she respects us so little as to do this against our wishes, but it doesn't surprise me - when has she ever done anything with a thought about anyone but herself?

DH's two unmarried sisters both put married down because guys patrol myspace and do searchs for "unmarried" women...it saves them a lot of junk mail. the people that know them, know they aren't married.

And it's funny you mention the "married" thing - that's actually kind of common right now with kids, and I don't get it at all!!! They put "married" as their status for some reason....

I know of a girl that had a bad breakup and put her status as "divorced" - I was like, why would you do that??? You weren't married, you haven't been through a divorce, you don't get to say that!

I think it's just a bit of an immaturity thing....likely one that people look back at and say, "what was I thinking???"

(Who's taking it off topic NOW?? haha)

SUPER glad to hear about your upcoming visit and how excited you are about it!!! Let us know how it goes!

Aclee - that's a VERY good call - and something that I as a 25 year old might have to consider....(too bad there are plenty of creepers that don't even care sometimes)

I was more talking about 17 year olds who "play married" in myspaceland.

But there is CERTAINLY a time and a place for the "I'm married" line. My sis and I used to wear "wedding rings" at the bar where we worked, or at least keep them in our apron in case we needed to slip them on....

I think it is wonderful that any birthmother would post pictures of the children she placed anywhere! Facebook, my space, her home, her wallet - when a birthmom feels like she can share this moment with the world it is an important step in her healing. To be confident and free of shame or guilt is so important and should be applauded. I am not afraid for my childrens safety AT all when their birth families share photos..I am proud that they are loved and that we can keep those lines of communication open.

The girls at work use their "boyfriend's" last name. I use the term boyfriend losely as really, passing notes in a treatment facility doesn't constitute a relationship, but whatever. We walk around every night and erase about 30 name pairs that don't belong off of various white boards.

First mom to the amazing Kiddo and adopted adult.

1-4-2009 Mom and I visit Kiddo despite the bad weather. He really loved the blue mittens I made him and even helped me plan my living room. Apparently Hot Wheels wallpapper is the way to go.
2-16-2009 I got a promotion, that comes with a raise. Mom and Dad are visiting and we're going to Al's for pie to celebrate.
4-27-2009 Dad surprises me with a Lady Ugly Stick (an awesome fishing rod that is pink) and a 2nd Iowa Light Artillery Battery jacket. I'm a lucky girl!
5-30-2009 Kiddo turns five. It is hard to believe he is that old already, it seems like just yesterday he was being born. I was at peace for the first time on his birthday, what a nice feeling.
6-13&14 2009 A cannon live fire in Casper WY. We got third place and I got to see Devil's Tower for the first time, it was pretty awesome.
7-4-2009 Amelia the kitten comes to live with me and Liz. Talk about jealousy, Liz will adjust though.
